I recently bought a double sided calendar pocket watch and the calendar dial is completely gunked up. I tried cleaning it, but nothing came off, so then I tried polishing it and the numbers began to rub off :O . Since I want this watch to look as original as possible, does anyone know of a good watch dial restorer? It can be anywhere in the world, I just want reliability since I do not want to send my dial to some scam artist.

The center is gilded, so that's important. And then lastly, are there restorers out there who can gild a crown?

Paul (vintage) is trying a dial restorer in Spain for a Breitling - looks like they do good work from pictures. Might be worth waiting on the results of that.

A decent jeweller should be able to plate the crown for you.

Turns out Govberg's does dial refinishing! I'll give them a call once the weekday starts, but they should prove to be reliable.
