Hi guys, first time here and new BBSB owner

This is my second automatic watch, my first is a Hamilton I rarely wear due to having to set the time each time I wear it since I wear quartz watches most often. Going though the process of buying the BB I found a few other automatic watches I'd like to pick up over time but I'm not sure how I'd avoid having to set them frequently.

I see many of you own multiple watches so keen for your advice please - the only think I can think of is a self-winding machine but not sure I want to have watches sitting out all the time.

i have mine on a winder which is an enclosed case so they are still covered, other than that you can either rotate each watch every day or 2 or just let them run down

How would one determine how many turns per day their watch required?

I have 6 watches; three autos and three manuals. I just wind them each night before i go to bed. Takes all of three minutes. It means that the money i would have spent on a winder i can put into watches. I'm not sure how many watches i could be bothered to do this with, but certainly up to ten wouldn't bother me at all.

And more power to you for it, that makes a lot of sense if you can deal with the winding regime.

I prefer a winder because:
- I always forget (too irresponsible to have nice things); and
- I would prefer not to handwind some watches. For example, the crown on one is awkward to unscrew and has broken off in my hand already once, so I really don't want to be unscrewing it daily. For others I have owned (Panerai Luminor), handwinding them was uncomfortable and my thumb eventually made light scuff marks on the polished bezels.

To each his own.

I agree with you on this one Otto. I'd definitely forget now and then, and I also prefer to put less wear on the screw-in crowns and winding mechanism by constantly hand-winding. Watch-winders are just too damn convenient for me to do it any other way.

Also my dilemma. I am also concerned about the potential damage from daily winding which so far has been my nightly ritual just before bed time.
Mrs. Wessa often jokes that play with my watches more often than with ......
Anyway, does anyone have a reasonably economical solution that would keep 20+ automatic watches on the go ?

Well as long as you don't take your watch winder down the pub with you and then leave it on the bar when you go to the gents you should be fine!

I personally don't think there's any more risk of theft of a watch winder as there is of theft of a watch when it's in it's box. You don't have to have your winder on display - just stick it in a cupboard.

They don't have to be expensive i got a 4 watch winder with another 6 spaces, fully programmable for about £70 had no problems with it and the guy even sent me a custom setting when I told him what watches I had, simple black with a glass display front. Had it almost a year and no issues at all
