Could you guys please educate me on how destructive the Cape Cod cloth polishing compound is to the AR on my SA. I want to polish the sides of the case and lugs up a little, but I am super paranoid about getting any of the compound on the crystal because of what I have read on here. I haven't started yet, But it seems impossible to not get any on the crystal. What are some techniques I should try? Thanks for the help! |

Just tape off the crystal. A lot of people will use masking tape around the edge and cut a piece of paper for the bulk of the crystal (held in place by the tape). The AR isn't going to suddenly evaporate if you touch the crystal, but it doesn't do it any good. |

Ive gotten it on the AR many times, and it doesnt do anything. You want to avoid rubbing the cloth on the crystal while there is compound present though. |

Even if you accidentally run against it repeatedly for multiple strokes it won't do anything. Breitling uses a very strong AR coating that takes a good 30 microns or so to accidentally wipe it off. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |

I get it on the AR every time I polish it, never has done anything. |

as Roff said - tape off the crystal if you want to seriously work on your watch, you will not do any immediate damage to your crystal, but you'll polish like walking on eggs, nervously. tape it off - it takes a minute and you'll polish away with a lot more fun. |
