I am truly surprised to find out, that fake watches have forums also.
I was really surprised to see them give reviews of Breitling models.
Then advised on the "grades" of different fake mfg's!!
Unbelievable
I wonder if they teach the "Novice" how to sell these on E-Bay.
Not as fakes.....But as real Breitlings left to them by dear old departed Dad.
They tell you who makes the "Best' fakes of whichever model you want.
It's soooo F-A-K-E.....
Buy real....Be real...If a person can only afford a $200.00 watch....That's fine wear a $200.00
with pride...It's yours and it's real and that's great!
I only paid $400.00 for my Rolex GMT in 1969....Or maybe $200.00 Can't remember now.
Anyway...You get the Idea...
That's it ....Had to vent....And now the band will play...

I concur Sir. Fakes piss me off. I don't wear Breitling or Rolex to impress people. I wear them because I've always loved quality watches, and I am VERY fortunate to be able to afford those names. Unlike the people who buy fakes to try to flash and impress. There was a day that I could only afford the $100-$200 watch, and I wore them with pride and took great care of them. I actually still have the watch I bought after basic training 10 years ago, and will never get rid of it. It's a great representation of where my journey began.

I'm with you Rob, I still have my Seiko dive watch I got when I was 14, quartz of course. I have not worn it in more than a decade, but I keep the battery fresh and it sits in the top of my wolf winder beaide my Lings every single day.

Fakes are obviously worn to impress, I feel sad people base so much of thier self image and self esteem on what other people think of them. Too bad they will never be happy with themselves as one cannot really lie to one self. Maybe one day they will look for approval from someone more important than thier peers.

They don't do that, they are the same comunity as we are.
The only difference is that they have interest in replicas.

The replica forum has very strict rules and absolutely do not tolerate anyone who tries to pass a fake watch off as real. They will ban people for posting pictures from the replica site in a forum like this - just ask nr123!!

I had no idea those forums existed. Hopefully the fakes will lead them over to the world of authentics.

It strikes me as backwards that they should have an ethical code governing how they pursue their enthusiasm for an industry that is inherently unethical.

Yes and no. It's no secret that I'm personally no fan of fakes at all, but I've done a bit of research into the whole sub-culture over the months, and as Bnewbie said, most of the folks who are properly into fakes (i.e. active members of forums, etc) are generally just regular guys with a genuine interest in watches who, for one reason or another, either can't afford or don't want to pay genuine prices. I'm in no way defending that position per se as there is absolutely nothing wrong IMO with wearing a £200 Seiko if you only have £200 to spend on a watch, but a lot of people (fairly unsurprisingly I guess) like the style and design of the top brands and want to enjoy the look. Sure, some buy them to show off and pretend to be something they're not, and some of the real low-lifes buy them with a view to selling them on as genuine items  , but most seem to buy them purely for their own enjoyment with no intention of trying to rip people off. In this regard, the fake forums actually do a lot of good in terms of discouraging the rip-off merchants, and "semi-regulating" an industry that, while inherently unethical, does and will no doubt continue to exist.

So in that respect, I'm personally very pleased that the fake forums have a "code of conduct".

Good response Driver 8. I wonder if that "Code of Conduct' might be simply "fake"
Like the watches.
In America we have a body of "hate" known as the Ku Klux Klan....I would
not call them a "Fraternal Group" or a Club.

Well anything is possible I guess. All I can say is that from a personal look at the whole replica forum thing, and from my understanding of conversations that I know that Admin has with other forum owners, then the "code of conduct" is indeed a real thing.

(Just to be clear - I am talking about the replica forums here, not those who make and peddle the fakes in the first place).

Clear and understood , But as we discussed in another current thread .
Forums are here to sell a product......I bought my Breitling partly due to the positive threads found here.
The sponsors or whatever they are called on the Fake Forums are PUSHING FAKE WATCHES !!
It is that simple....Join us ....it's OK to be fake. Hey...We support you, Join the club.
We're not fake,we just like fake things, that's all.
If it looks like a Breitling, and it says Breitling.....It must be a Breitling....... :lingsrock:
Unless it's a fake..

BreitlingSource does not exist to sell Breitlings and the people running the reputable replica forums are not in existence to sell fakes.

If you bought a Breitling in part because of BreitlingSource then that was your choice not the forum's doing.

Agreed in part as I personally don't subscribe to the fact that all forums exist to sell watches, but the point of my original post was that replica forums actively take action against those who attempt to pass off fakes as genuine, either through sales or even through posting pictures on genuine watch forums like this one. They also do not help people pass off fakes as genuine either. Ergo, they have a "code of conduct" in that regard, for want of a better description. That's all my point was.

I certainly wasn't making a comment on the morality, ethicality or legality of buying and selling fakes.
