Later this week I'm taking the kids (who are still on Easter break) to one of the watch museums. I can't decide between the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle (Château des Monts) in Le Locle or the Musée International d'Horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Can anyone share their experiences with these places to help me make a decision? Thanks.

I'll be happy to, if they allow photographs. I'm leaning toward the museum in Le Locle because I need to go there to pick up a spring bar tool at Bergeon. Yes, living here has advantages. :P On the other hand, a pizza costs about $1000. That might be a slight exaggeration.

 I would love to visit switzerland and visit all the museums. The good thing is that switzerland has lots of watch houses so I would want to stay. I hope you have a good time. :D

do not want to rub it in, but the local Bergeon rpices are way above US/UK pricing, I assume.

And you did forget to mention you are having a Coke with your Pizza for $1k !

I bought directly from Bergeon, they have a store at their facility in Le Locle. Surprisingly, the price for the 6767-F is quite good, I think. It is 8.10chf (roughly $9). It's not often that the prices here are competitive with the US. For example, after the museum I took the kids to McDonald's for lunch. For the three of us the bill was 39chf (about $43). No dessert, just burgers, fries and soda. Even at those prices the places are always packed.

And of course the $1000 pizza includes Coke. But no free refills.

Here are a few [bad] photos from the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle. It's a small museum focusing on the timekeeping industry in Le Locle. I was a bit disappointed that there were far more clocks and pocket watches than wrist watches but it was interesting all the same.

There is currently a temporary exhibit of DOXA watches. I think these two are quite nice.

One room is dedicated to technological developments in watchmaking spanning several centuries. This display is from the 18th century, I believe.

I knew that watch parts are small but holy cow!

A few nice Zeniths

A calibre drawing from the local watchmaking school, April 1910. CAD was much cruder then.

I'll post photos again after I visit the bigger museum in La Chaux de Fonds (though I don't know when that will be).
