Hello

Dose anyone know what Iwc portuguese chronos are like. I was looking at them but was wondering what they was like as a watch. I think that the one with the white dial with gold markes and hands that is stainless steel are nice. Also dose anyone have one to give their comments about it.
And finaly what are Iwc movments like.

Since I am Portugese, I have always liked this watch, but it looks a little dressy for me. Tough to go wrong with IWC though.

I haven't owned one, but I've seriously considered buying a Portuguese on several occasions. The Portuguese Chrono does not have an in-house movement, which is why it's significantly cheaper than the non-chrono Portuguese. This is an important distinction to me, but if you're not big on the in-house movement, I think the Portuguese Chrono is a great piece. I'm not aware of any serious issues with the piece, unlike the Big Pilot, which is known to keep terrible time.

The movement in the P-chrono is the tried and true ETA Valjoux 7750, which is the same movement used in the Chronomat Evo and also the Navitimer, I believe (non B01 version, obviously). Manufacturers will modify this base movement to their desired specs. To my knowledge, both Breitling and IWC heavily modify the 7750. It's a great movement and is found in many, many watches, so you have nothing to worry about from a reliability standpoint.

They're great watches if you wear it for the right occasion and as far as I know they have the same (highly modified) mvmnt (7750) that is used by Breitling

I've never owned a Portuguese, primarily on account of them being a little too dressy for me, but they are no doubt fine watches.

From personal experience, IWC make very good watches, provided you steer clear of the in-house 7 day automatic movement if timekeeping is even vaguely important to you. The other in-house movements, plus the ETA based pieces are all very robust and don't seem to cause problems.

The other thing I found was that the Richemont service centre here in the UK was very poor. To start with they couldn't fix the poor timekeeping of my BP (although to be fair, neither could IWC in Switzerland), but they also managed to put scratches on the case at the same time! Totally unacceptable. Obviously I may have just been unlucky, but I can only speak from personal experience.
