I always liked the price range for steel models for the luxury category, $1000-$4000 for brands like Omega, Rolex, Breitling...

I want to know what he is smoking. Oh how things would be different if the majority of steel models from the luxury watch makers were in that range. Notably, I would have a LOT more of them than I have now lol.

And IMO, UN has no business in the category of High-End Luxury for people in the know. Some of the high end market is for people who have more $$ than "know".

My last boss bought UN because it has a Nautical theme, thought it would impress people to make him appear to be successful though he was in debt down to his last cent but somehow could afford to piss away $15,000 on a hideous monstrosity though he had over $1,000,000 in overdue debt through his company and was laying people off. Calling UN high-End because of their price range is like calling Dennis Rodman a fashion icon. Putting UN in the same category as Patek is a slap in Patek's face. Might as well call an Invicta a Luxury piece cause it looks like some brands in the luxury range.

Sure UN has some technical merit, but like Cartier, I strongly consider them to be more along the lines of a High-End Luxury fashion brand.

I guess you could summarize my thoughts on this list from the above, they need a fashion category.

Edit: It just occurred to me, this list could be a decade old. That would explain a few things.

It most probably is at least that old. Explains the prices AND Ulysse Nardin used to be a manufacturer of beautiful, highly complicated, unaffordable watches. Just during the last decade they started to produce monstrosities for people with a lot more money than taste, the Astrolabium was one of my dream watches.

Thanks Fred, that makes sense. I wonder why it has not been updated? We should make our own here.... Roff can add that to his list of things to do this weekend, like write an Encyclopedia on Breitling's vintage pieces! :nana:
