I usually keep all my watch boxes in their bags out of the way, but my wife saw my Patek box and would not have it just sitting there, so she has it on the dresser. I have to admit it is gorgeous and remembering my earlier DIY job with that old wood trunk I started thinking this could be an idea for a small business opportunity.

The idea is to provide custom compartments that fit into popular brand’s watch boxes such as Breitling, Omega, Panerai etc that can be customized to hold a watch collection, straps, tools, cufflinks, or as a travel case for all the above.

The cost of the compartments would be 30-40 USD and would allow you to take advantage of those nice boxes you got with the watch.

I know of a Jewelry box maker in China that can custom make the compartments fairly cheaply.


This is sort of an initial interest thread, would you buy something like this?

Pretty cool idea, and for that $ I think I would at least try it out. After looking at your DIY thread, I actually turned a couple of neat looking cigar boxes I had lying around into strap cases. It's not as clean as your job, but I think it looks pretty good!

I've seen someone on the Panerai boards who sells inserts for their boxes to hold 6 watches. If you could make them for several brands, then I would buy one.

I would buy one if I had a box I would like to use for such purposes, like a Patek box, but a nice one from say the nautilis can cost upwards of $1000 on Ebay, so that is not going to happen.
