Like a few others here, since the first of the new year I have been searching for a blue dial watch. Must be the weather or something. I'm rebuilding the collection so with two watches right now I want something twith a bracelet hat can go with a shirt and tie or casual, and since I have at least one more piece to add at some point, I've decided not to go as expensive as I initially considered. One of these went up for sale over the weekend but sold almost immediately. This picture is fairly stock but from other photos I have seen the dial is beautiful in person. Nothing special valjoux 7750, but brushed/stainless bracelet, which I prefer. Watch Buys, the distributor for Sinn in the U.S., has one on blue strap but will add the bracelet for not much more than the bracelet installed model, which is sold out.

I'm also looking at a (not blue) old IWC that I have wanted for some time and trying to figure out which watch to add first. I thought I'd see if anybody has any experience with this one. Thanks, as always, for any input.

JMO it looks like a knockoff Breguet. and didnt you just dump the Breguet? seems weird that the 2 look so similar that you want this considering you just owned a way nicer piece

That photo doesn't really show the true colour of the dial - this is better - http://www.ablogtoread.com/lasting-impr ... 03-arktis/

It's not the kind of blue that I would want to live with personally, not particularly versatile. Maintenance is also going to be a bit of a pain, because it's argon filled I believe that it has to go back to Germany for any servicing.

Hopefully the models sold by Watch Buys use English on the day wheel. I actually thought about finding another picture, but the others I saw were on forums and I have heard some unhappiness about people lifting photos about privately owned watches not for sale.

Boogiebot: That's a really interesting comment. This model has actually been around for several years, but I see the resemblence. There are some notable differences too but maybe there is something to that being why I'm drawn to it. In that respect it wouldn't be weird at all. The XXI is still probably my favorite watch that I have owned. The only reason I sold it was the brownish dial; I sold overall for a triple financial whammy at the time but if the XXI had a black dial I probably would have kept it and not bought the Yachtmaster. I think that's the main reason most people sell them after a while.

Obviously, the Sinn is not a Breguet. Is it good enough, though, that I could enjoy it? Part of what I'm trying to gauge is quality. As opposed to, say, the prior model CSO in blue, which is also a Valjoux 7750 with mods, how good is this? I'm intrigued that it looks a a little different from the norm; then again, you don't see many XXs or XXIs around, or watches with that style. Whether I'm comfortable with maybe getting something that looks like my old XXI is now another consideration.

Roff: The different blue is part of the intrigue for me, as well. There are a couple of threads on Watchuseek with wrist shots--they really show the piece and the heading is the watch name--wasn't sure if it would be right to copy for these purposes or not. For my taste, a blue watch has limited versatilty in the first place, but it works great casually with jeans or with a blue shirt or suit, which I often wear. Also, Watch Buys has a pretty liberal return policy--you can't put it on of course, but if you open the box and don't like the dial in the metal, you can return it without a restocking fee. I was curious about servicing as well. I was told that RGM is doing service now and an Argon gas charging unit is a few weeks from coming over to RGM as well. The all-weather oil used for extreme temperatures is such that it has a three year warranty. If they can service it in the States, and up to now the Argon gas charge was the problem, it wouldn't seem any worse than sending to BUSA.

All comments are appreciated. Keep 'em coming. Thanks.

I didn't realise that Roland was now servicing them, that makes life easier for sure.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw the pic as well.

Since it appears like we have a bit of a consensus here, I pulled an old photo of my XXI and put them side by side:

Okay. So, now I'm looking at this from almost an integrity standpoint. Does this enter that category of shameless knockoff? The bezel style and arabics are clearly similar. Several pilot watches use similar arabics but I see the issue of the bezel and numbers together. Different registers and date placement, different bracelet. Then there is the unique dial color. Is that enough? I'm leaning toward different enough, but I'm still looking.

If you like the darn watch, buy the watch - it has some similarities to the Breguet which is perhaps what makes it appeal to you, it also has a lot of differences.

At the end of the day you can make comparisons forever, but I don't think 'integrity' factors in to it, it's a legitimate watch from a legitimate brand and if you like it then nothing else matters.
