Post subject:  Blue Dial watch wanted....any ideas?

I'm looking for a blue dial watch, with inhouse movement, on bracelet, and I'd prefer it to have a brushed finish. I really like the Breitling B01 with romans but I don't love the polished bezel, if it was brushed it would definitely be under consideration. A blue dial flying fish would be great!

AP makes a nice looking blue dial RO 15300 but that's a lot more than I want to spend.

Any ideas? The new inhouse Planet Ocean with blue bezel (ceramic or liquimetal, not sure which it is) could be a possibility....and since it's made from grade 5 titanium it should be lightweight and comfy to wear. Any thoughts?

I recently tired on a ton of Omega POs. 42 and 45mm 2500 and 8500 movements. I am not all that up on the movements, but I think (not sure) the 2500 movement is not an in house while the 8500 is. I was surprised how "small" the 45mm PO was. Really felt great on the wrist and my wife loved it. So much so I don't think I would be up for the 42. If it only came in 42 it would still be a killer watch. The 8500 is thicker to house the different movement and given the choice I like the thinner 2500 better. The 8500 sat up just a bit too far for my tastes compared to the rest of the overall proportions of the watch. Ceramic bezels are nice, so are the aluminum ones. The liquid metal sure has a cool look. I don't think I tried on the blue/Ti because I was interested in black/orange...but the steel POs were not all that heavy so I can only imagine the Ti would feel comfy and light. I love a blue watch as a dive/sporty watch but since I already have a blue faced watch I would not be after one for myself...but I think it is GREAT looking watch.

As a nod to Breitling my SF feel mcuh more substantial and strudy while the PO seems more refined.

Before you say anything I realize it's not on a bracelet, but other than that it meets the rest of your criteria I believe and seems to be in the price range you are looking at. Zenith 36'000 VPH Tribute to Charles Vermot ltd edition powered by their El Primero Caliber 400B and I would imagine you could order it on the bracelet.

Excuse me
My thinking may be flawed...But ETA is owned by Swatch. So any watch company owned by swatch, would be an in house movt.
and Swatch owns almost everybody...Right?
Now I know some will argue that Swatch does not own everybody. I did not say they did..
:D

Richard - that's a good call, I used to own that watch is black and it is a beauty!!!!! My only complaint was that it is all dial and wore huge for a 42mm watch. But you hit all the criteria for me. Oddly, the blue dial costs $1,000 more than the black, I guess because it's an LE.

You are right....It's flawed :poke:

The companies that are under the Swatch umbrella so to speak are autonomous from each other as I understand it. Not only that, but not all of them employ ETA movements in their pieces, but make their own in-house movements...(IE Glashutte Original). Also ETA was it's own company if I remember correctly before Swatch Group purchased them. I'm sure that Roff or some of the other more educated gentlemen can explain this better than I and it would probably be better suited under a different topic rather than hijack the OPs subject of this thread.

Wow that looked good on your wrist with the suit buddy. I hear ya though on it wearing larger than a 42...probably more like a 44 or even 46 with that dial. I like the blue on that one though because it's not so in your face blue...if that makes sense. It's appears a bit more subdued....or is it just the colors on my screen LOL. Oh and it has a display back too....I forgot to mention.

I don't know about the movement, but I like the Omega Seamaster GMT 2535.80.00 (hope I remembered the number).

Zenith Captain Windsor annual calender - don't know if it is brushed or comes with bracelet though.

How about that UN 'Blue Toro' thingy dingy? (SS version?)

The new Breitling in-house SO blue dial Steelfish (oops, not announced yet  :) )

That Zenith is freaking sick....I would love to add any of the dial variations as an alternate work watch to the Navi.

Good luck with the hunt, although I dont doubt that you will end up with a very impressive piece of wrist porn

Leaning heavily towards the new Omega PO. Found a mint condition preowned that I am thinking about scooping up at the right price.

Liquimetal dial, ceramic bezel, grade 5 titanium case & bracelet, display back, inhouse movement, brushed finish....it checks all the boxes for me and since the idiots at Rolex won't release a blue ceramic sub in stainless steel this could be the winner.

Other thoughts are:

IWC 7 Day 5001 Laureus Blue Limited Edition - too expensive.
IWC Aquatimer Chrono, new BLUE dial - looks gorgeous but lacks an inhouse movement (i want inhouse on this piece)
IWC Portuguese Perpetual - IW502121 - At $42,000 I think I'm about $35k short.
AP RO 15300 - Blue Dial... checks ALL the boxes but it's just too expensive.
Breitling B01 - Black eye Blue...don't know if I can handle the all polished look.

This is a tough one.

Breguet Marine with the Midnight Blue dial. Job done. You'll tire quickly of the Ti 8500 PO (coming from a person who wears a PO all day, every day) but, that Breguet is just amazing.

I wear my Planet Ocean Chrono nearly every day and I love it. The Breguet Marine is around $15k. That's out! But that was a good suggestion and one that I gave a good look at.
