I bought a new Speedmaster and within a month or so I had scratched the crystal. I had the AD send it in for a replacement. When the estimate came back from Omega it included replacing the hands. Why would hands need replaced on a new watch? Other than lume what could possibly go wrong with a "stick"? TIA, Mike |

All major brands use pressure fit single use hands. Once removed they aren't designed to be reused because the holes have been stretched so they are replaced with new as a matter of course whenever any servicing is done. I am assuming that Omega is including a basic service as the movement is out of the case for the crystal replacement. |

Since in another thread we were just talking about how sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof, I'm curious to know how you scratched yours. That's assuming it's a sapphire crystal and not hesalite. (Can't imagine they'd replace it if it were - just buff it out.) |

How badly was it scratched? I've heard most people just buff theirs out on their own. |
