Got an e-mail from JLC last evening announcing this - a follow up from the two vintage pieces announced at SIHH last year. Nice looking piece as far as I'm concerned - http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/info/ne ... 12_EN.html

Lovely looking piece...... except for two issues (for me) - 40.5mm and plexiglass.

43/44mm and sapphire, and I'd have been grovelling to the bank manager.

like this a lot - and love the fact they left it at a "vintage size" with 40.5mm

Yeah, I guess that's a nod to history. The fixed bezel struck me as a little odd as well. I agree that it's a looker though.

Unrelated to the watch directly, I also like the fact that JLC gets these news announcements out to subscribers the same day that the pieces are announced, with Breitling you get the e-mail weeks or months later.

I didn't read that it has a fixed bezel. Very odd for a diver.

As for the size, I like my "vintage look" to be a little updated!

I got the email last night also. Not a huge fan of their Vintage Deep Sea line but if i had to chose I like last year's alarm version slightly more.

JLC is another brand that I like just about everything they make, but this one is a bit of an exception. While I initially find no fault with this model at first glance, I find it odd that JLC chose a stationary bezel for this Diver. I also have to wonder at the use of Plexiglass over a Sapphire Crystal. Obviously they were striving towards a vintage look, which they achieved, but I think the use of Plexiglass crystal will be a concern for some consumers. If I had to choose between the 2 Tribute models, I would have to go with last year's model.

Not sure about this JLC (too busy?), but plexy is sexy...

Wonder why they call it Deep Sea, when it's only like 10bar..

I guess fake patina doesn't come cheap either.

Because it's a tribute to the 1950s piece of the same name.

Hi all,

Whilst for me Plexi and its warmer look over mineral crystal isn't really that big of an issue especially as light scratches can be so easily polished out by the owner. What is and not just with this JLC but also Panerai is this attempt at aged Patina on new watches i do understand they are trying to make the watch looked aged but to me its just plain wrong. Of course we don't all obviously feel the same way as many seem to love this effect just not me is all otherwise it is yet another nice JLC.

I'm in deep, deep love with this whole range from JLC. I'd sell my left bollock for one.

Yep that's one good looking piece alright. Not sure I'd sell a bollock for one  but nice all the same. I do like the size.
