Thanks to all for suggestions.. Special thanks to Sooner for finding my new acquisition. A few days ago I received my new Hamilton Khaki Automatic 42mm. It looks amazing and came also with a bracelet as well as a leather on a deployant. Here are some pics.  My Wife to be also let my new Breitling Super Avenger (which she's keeping away from me till our wedding) come out to play for it's first set of pics with the Hamilton.  Chris |

You should look into Ball watches. They started out as railroad timekeepers (or something like that). |

THey've got some nice watches. Apparently from what I've been instructed, only one of these watches would qualify for what I need (Trainmaster 60 seconds).. and as nice as it is, it unfortunately runs about $1800... Great suggestion though. |

Great suggestion though. There are pre-owned Ball watches for sale frequently. Decent value pre-owned. Hamilton also has a Railroad line, but not sure if any have 24 hour dials. |

Ball was the first one that came to my mind as well when thinking of a "Railroad" specific piece. Sharkman is right though, they are more affordable on the pre-owned market. I don't think you couldn't find a more suitable piece that has such a rich historical connection to railroading history than a Ball. Good luck on finishing your education and on the new career direction. |

Go to long island watch or christopher ward both have GMT watches. For a good deal check West coast Time. check out the Ollech&Wajs GMT. |

Two immediately come to mind in your price range with military dials (i.e., 24-hour numerals): 1) Hamilton Khaki Field Auto in 42mm. You can probably get one new for what you want to spend. 2) Marathon GSAR (auto) and TSAR (quartz), both 41mm. You can find them pre-owned for $400 - 450. I think they run close to $600 new. As a bonus, these have tritium markers on the dial. |

Thanks for the tips guys!!! I was looking at the hamilton lineup and seemed to miss this gem. I've seen one of the marathons. It's quite nice as well... THe hunt will begin. |

I would go old school and a buy a Hamilton railroad pocket watch there are many great examples of this watch at resonable prices. |

That watch is quite nice. So is the rest of the lineup. Unfortunately for the north american railway system (or at least Canada) you need to have the numbers (1 - 24) on the dial. Probably so there's no confusion.. not that you'd get confused at the time |
