Thanks all! My problem is I'm looking on the second hand market for a Ex II, and I'm seeing prices around 4.5K to 5K for mid, late 90's model. Then again, a new one for 8K ish. The new ones are the size I prefer, bolder hands and markers I like. Mah, your pictures prove it's a step up from their previous model. (many will disagree, which is fine) To have the better of the two for twice the price almost? Thinking "big picture" not sure if I'd be willing to take the retail hit. I'll probably never sell it anyhow. Either way it's gonna happen soon. What's your opinion? |

There is just nothing special about the former Explorer II - small, hollow center links, cheap tinny clasp. You have to wear one to realize it is blah. IMHO. ![]() Nice work Mark! |

Shark is correct the bracelet is very nice. The clasp is solid with a micro adjust feature really nice. I had seen the previous ones and thought why put a cheap clasp and bracelet on a nice watch. I did order an extra link but it fits my 8" wrists as is but in the full out position. I have to tell you the bezel is cut very nicely. I know that the magnifier is an issue for some but I can actually see the date. The 42 mm is in the case and the lug area, gives it a heft without making the bracelet look too small. (Deep sea) I am wearing it today, I have to say I am very happy with this watch. |

Killer watch, nice pick up. I tried one on back in early November and fell in love. Enjoy! |

I'll probably never sell it anyhow. Either way it's gonna happen soon. What's your opinion? I tried hard to convince myself to buy the older Explorer II over my Yachtmaster. I couldn't do it because in 40mm configuration the dial just looks too small for me ( I have 7 3/4 inch wrists) The stainless bezel just shrinks the white dial. Also, though there is supposedly little difference, the bracelet on the Yacht just felt more substantial--maybe just a different balance betweeen watch and bracelet, but with the Explorer, the bracelet just felt cheap. I still need to see the new one in the metal and I really liked the red GMT hand on the old model and think I would prefer it to the orange, but I have worn the new bracelet on other new models and the difference is amazing. Resale shouldn't be bad on them but if you are concerned, a few are already turning up on the Rolex boards for the low 7s. I'd guess by summer you'll see some in the upper 6s while the older model will hold value and may even go up just a bit. That's what happened with the GMTs. The new model should ultimately hold at some decent price point and since the trend seems to be going back down a bit in watch size, the new model should be easily resold if you want sometime. |

My friend Sheamus has one......I say "If you can't buy Rolex or Breitling then don't bother, at all! It's just a waste of TIME" |
