I am on a quest for my boss in search of a beautiful skeleton watch with a price max of 25k, but preferably well under that. I ran across a beautifully skeletonized piece from Benzinger and in reading up on them it looks like they pretty much take ETA or other stock movements and tear them down and perform their artistry as well as some modifications to these engines. Just curious what any of you know about them?

Jochen Benzinger is one of the best in the business when it comes to skeletonising a movement. You are correct that they are stock movements, and the one that you likely saw for sale is a nice example, although a little over priced

www.watchbuys.com is the US distributor of them.

Shoot if he wants to save a bunch of jack, look at the Perrelet skeletonized Chronograph dual time. They do a nice job decorating the movement and it too is a re-worked ETA. 42mm, fairly thick and coined edges. Big discounts on Perrelet too, so this one can be had new at about $6K. Govberg is a Perrelet AD.

My Breitling AD has had this Chronoswiss in their pre-owned stock for a year - http://www.essential-watches.com/Chrono ... 8-9-w.aspx Not my cup of tea.

If you put a Perrelet, Chronoswiss and Benzinger side by side the Benzinger does stand out though, from a Skeleton standpoint it's in a different league.

Yeah, I just looked at some and they do have some extra work and panache.

Yeah we got the opportunity to try on one of the Perrelet Skeletons while back in Dubai and he kind of liked it. As for the Benzinger, I agree that the engraving, artistry, and craftsmanship adds a lot more panache. The 3/4 Benzinger with guilloche dial is just plain gorgeous IMO.
