Post subject: | What's your poison Poll |
I've noticed a number of folks mentioning their preference in their choice of watch case shapes and thought it would be interesting to put up a poll to put it on record so to speak. I'll start out by saying that odd or unique shapes really do not appeal to me, as I lean to more conservative shapes. I prefer rounds for the most part, but would consider squares/rectangles if the piece/brand appealed to me aesthetically (IE Corum Golden Bridge). You may vote once for one option, but if you make a mistake you can change your vote. So jump in and cast your vote and state what you voted for and feel free to give your opinion on the subject. |

Based on what I have, most of my collection consists of round cases... don't have a square one yet but did have a vintage Speedmaster Mark II which is a tonneau (barrel) shaped case. And since I am a big fan of the JLC Reverso... I think a square/rectangular watch adds a bit more elegance to a piece. Probably because most of the pieces that are in square/rectangular shapes are made for more dressy occasions anyway... |

I said any shape - I have been on a weird watch kick for a while and shape is part of that, but it's only a part of the whole picture to me. |

I voted round only, but there are a few non round watches that I like as well. The Reverso, Santos 100 and a couple of others. |

I like my shirts with button down collars, my slacks with double reverse pleats and cuffs, and my watches round. Yaaaaaaawn. |

Every now and then I think about a square or tonneau shape. Then I realize I need a couple more dial colors in round first. Haven't taken the plunge yet, though with my need for a white dial, I may check a squarish dial out this weekend. Still, in austerity mode and with fewer watches, I'll likely go round. |

I voted round only, as 99% of the watches I've owned are indeed round. Square watches just don't do it for me at all, but I like some tonneau shaped cases on certain vintage styled watches - such as the Doxa Subs. The only "odd" shaped watch that like (love in fact!) is the Omega Ploprof. |

I voted round with some square (always liked B&R), but now that I think about it, I actually DON'T like completely round watches like most dress watches, big pilot, etc. Perhaps that's why currently I'm drawn into the more 'cushion shape' Panerai watches. |

I assume "round" here includes various degrees of round. I would still consider a Pam to be round. Not a BR01 or 03 though. |

I prefer round but I'm not against a JLC Reverso or a Corum Bridge. |

Taking the lugs into account, I guess I'm more into 'rounded' case shapes...but the face has to round for me personally. Circular to be pedantic, not ovoid or oval even. I'm a concentric rather than eccentric kind of guy really, even when it comes down to the constant gap between the tip of the hands as they sweep relative to the edge of the crystal. I dont like wankels for similar reasons. |
