Just curious about this line of watches, they have some intriguing pieces and it would appear they make all in-house movements if I understand the information on their website correctly. So what is the deal on this brand, are they a quality piece and worthy of collecting?

Heck yeah!

Great watches, often with prices to match. Big fan of a lot of their collections, but they also have some very practical pieces - Easy Diver being an obvious example.

Roger Dubuis are a superb brand. They are one of the few manufacturers who make everything themselves, right down to the hairspring. They're very innovative and make some fantastic pieces IMO. If you can afford it, I say go for it! You won't see many around but they are quite rightly held in very high regard by watch afficionados. I'd love one myself.

Well based on Roff's and Driver's high regard for this brand, as well as further discussion with a few other people, not too mention further internet research, I feel much better about considering adding one of these pieces. Now I face a real dilemma, I just can't decide if I like the Silver or Black dial better. I'm leaning towards the silver dial because it just gives it a touch more of classy rich look and it does not appear to look as busy as the black dial, but that is just my opinion. The other fact is that close to half my pieces have black dials, so the silver gives me an alternate look. Which one looks more classy to you folks?

Other details: 43mm SS case mounted on a black rubber strap with SS deployant clasp and powered by an in-house Caliber RD14 with 48 hr res. and 33 jewels. Limited Edition of 888 pieces

Silver or Black?

Silver for me - classic RD look.

I tried on a few of these watches and the fit nicely on the wrist. From what I understand they're producing less super expensive limited edition pieces and more regular production and "affordable" watches. The "affordable" ones, if I remember correctly, are in the 15k range. The cool thing, though, is that no matter what the price point, all their watches have the Geneva Seal.

I checked these out the last time I was at Govberg. Very nice watches, but nothing I could afford anytime soon.

Black for me. Really POP!

I like them both, but I'd probably just edge towards the silver if I had a choice. (Which I don't incidentally!)

I must say I really like the La Monegasque automatic in the silver dial. I guess these are the non-LEs for pedestrian tastes like mine (not that I can afford even one of those anytime soon!).

What is the MSRP on the Automatic in SS on that one? That is beautiful and classy looking.

Well after sleeping on it and listening to ya'lls recommendations on this thread, I've decided to commit to the Silver Dial version. Now all I have to do is make a phone call to confirm with the seller. January and February are gonna be awesome months, that is when all my commitments should be arriving.....good thing I ordered a larger carrying case :D Hmm I think I should order a tripod for my camera so I can do a proper photo shoot and employ some of those photography tips Spiderer posted.

Thought I'd pipe in here. I too am planning on purchasing one, it is different and fun:

But the movement is a reworked 7750, I have been told my numerous dealers.

Except that's not a Roger Dubuis, it's a De Witt.

Roger Dubuis do not use Valjoux movements.
