I have one minor gripe with this one, the strap doesn't seem to match the watch - those wrist shots seem to show a sudden switch rather than a transition. Not sure if it's the strap itself, the lugs or just the fact that the watch is wearing very large on you?

That's a serious piece of kit. Didn't really take a lot of notice when I first saw this, but the real world shots look really good.

As Driver8 says, with an in house movement B&R would be serious contenders.

Bell and Ross released a bargain earlier this year: The 1000M BR02 diver's watch with a carbon fibre dial. This is, amazingly, the same price as the standard model. I've said it before (but I'll say it again anyway!) - if B&R could only get themselves an in-house movement or two, and start producing a deployant clasp(!) I'd be sorely tempted by a couple of their models.

I've always really like the 02 line, but they are bulky on my wrist, primarily the strap. I saw the silver dial Vintage chrono a few days ago (FEAR had posted about it a few weeks ago) and dang it was beautiful and wore very large - like a 43, not a 40. It came on a gorgeous medium gray alligator strap with deploy. Having owned an IWC Mark XVI chrono in silver, it kicked the crap out of it. $4500 as I recall so about the same as the IWC in cost. No comparision on the wrist.

I just never really got the whole B&R thing, especially the square models. And for some reason I always think of those infomercials for Bell & Howell (or whatever theyre called) junky electronic stuff when I hear the name.

Very nice. I've always liked the BR02's and the carbon fiber dial really makes this one stand out to me. Unfortunately I think for the price there are a lot of other watches i'd rather buy but I do really like it. Definitely something I'd look to pick up on the pre-loved market.

Looks good, love the BR02, but I still prefer the 'regular' version. The hands on this one (whilst there's nothing especially unappealing about them) don't have the obvious dive-watch DNA of the original.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Prof. Sadly, the BR02s do not suit my 6.5" wrist.
