Post subject:  Tides on watch
Anyone know any watches that have the tide on them? Looking for a quartz watch, rubber strap, something that I can use saltwater fishing. I'm tired of checking tide charts, and I hate having to check the cell phone to see what time it is. Really don't care if there is a $5 watch that has this functionality. Moon phase would be a nice bonus.

This was a start for me...but given the purpose of the watch, I wouldn't spend over $200 on it.

There are several G-Shocks at $99 which have tide info.

My G-Shock 7900 has moon and tide functions. I think I've set them up properly for my location but I've never used them so I can't give any feedback on how well they work.

A Casio Sea Pathfinder would be another option, a friend of mine who is a yachtsman has used one for years.

I like that G-Shock.....maybe this weekend if I get over this cold I'll check some out at a store...I didn't even realize that they make fake G-Shocks!

I have a two G-Shocks with tide and moon info and while you probably wouldn't want to use them for navigation or anything, they certainly give a very good indication of the tides and moon phase. I live right on the coast and drive by the sea everyday so I've had plenty of opportunity to check the tide against my watches and I'd say they are pretty accurate once you set them up.

Just as an aside, I've gone from hating G-Shocks to actually being quite a big fan (for what they are) in recent months. So much so in fact that I now have two Frogmen which are the nearest Casio do to "high-end" G-shocks. I highly recommend them.... again, for what they are.

most tides watches are set up for 2 high and 2 low tides 12, but not everywhere has both i was told, so who knows. i thought everywhere had both but i was told the cult coast of florida only has one of each per day. i may be wrong though

Interesting. I have paid so little attention (to everything apart from the stopwatch) that I couldn't even say how the moon display operates: when it is fully blacked out, I have no idea whether that means new moon or full moon.

Also interested to hear about your Frogmen, they kind of appeal to me.

It's definitely worth having a read through the manual and setting the tide and moon phase up, as those functions certainly work.

The Frogmen have actually turned out to be a couple of the biggest watch surprises for me in recent years when I picked them up. They're very high quality (for G-Shocks), although they do cost a bit more than the average model.

I've been thinking about doing a mini-review of them on here as they're quite interesting and are probably worth highlighting as the ultimate beaters..... although to be honest I like mine so much that I'm not using them as beaters! :lol: (That's reserved for my super-cheap G-Shock Mudman!)

I might have a look at doing a quick review of them tonight. :thumbsup:
