I think that was the co-axial. Yes, it's a great loss, one of the greatest watchmakers who ever lived and a fascinating story. I got my copy of his reprinted 'Watchmaking' only a few weeks ago. The man never got the credit that he deserved, perhaps because he wasn't Swiss, perhaps because he lived a couple of hundred years too late. |

I guess his spirit will live on in my Omega AT 8500, and I thank him for that! |

This is indeed a great loss. I have had the privilege to meet him twice. The second time was two years ago and he was already very poorly then. He was incredibly humble. He didn't seem to understand all the fuss that was being made over him. When I asked him to autograph my copy of "Watchmaking" and the brochure for the exhibition of his he looked at me as if I'd asked him to perform a handstand. Maybe this is the reason he has not received the praise and recognition (worldwide) for what he has acheived. The man was a genius and I'm so pleased that his Co-Axial movement was taken up by a horological giant like Omega so that his legacy will live long. |
