Antiquorum auctions some amazing watches - but they also have some very affordable items as well. I was looking at the Navitimer Airborne that was in their sale last month - ended up selling for only 2,400CHF (about the same in $)

I used to think the prices looked OK until I realised you had to add 18% buyer's premium, local sales tax of 8 or 9% and, for the UK, import duty of about 4% and VAT of 17.%%

Best add 50/60% to your bid price to cover these little extras!

Fantastic watches though :D

Yeah, the buyers premium is high, not unusual to have it in an auction, but usually nearer 8 - 10%. In North America we are used to adding sales tax to prices - including tax in the list price is more of a European thing.

The duty certainly sucks, but no different to an eBay purchase in that respect.

Sweet pieces, but I guess I have to wait a while to jump in there...
