I just registered for this show in NYC. It looks like a lot of fun and it's hosted in several cities. Here's a link for anyone interested:
http://www.watchtime.com/live-events/in ... geneva-11/

I think some one here mentioned a BS NYC GTG. This would be the perfect opportunity.

Was it disappointing? I haven't talked with anyone who's been to one yet.

it was mostly dealers, we all knew each other, and the reps. the speaker could put a rock to sleep, most people left early.

I think the appeal of the show for a non-dealer, like most of us, would be to see the reps and a good variety of the watches they represent under one roof. For example, even in a city the size of Phoenix, the local dealers stock a few but not that many JLC, Glashutte, or IWC models. Same with higher-still brands like AP and Breguet. Do the reps come with a nice supply and variety?

they usually bring about 10 watches each. picture a banquet room with 20 tables in it. each brand has a table with a small display on it and the local rep for the brand behind the table. its not BAD but i was hoping for more, but its cool for the average guy who doesn't get to see this stuff very often, when you are there for business i guess its not fun. i wouldn't make a trip out of it again, but if its close go. certainly more fun with a group of friends

i shouldn't have been so negative, i had built it up in my head and i was a little disappointed but it really is cool for watch lovers.

I'll put it this way: If I can see a Breguet XXII (again), a Patek Nautilus, a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, a JLC Extreme World Chrono, a Lange, an AP, a nice GO Panomatic, maybe the new Explorer if it's out yet, under one roof, it might be worth a road trip. Did they bring the GOOD stuff?

These are the brands coming to NYC:
A. Lange & Söhne, Antiquorum, Armin Strom, Blancpain, Breguet, Bulgari, Carl F. Bucherer, Cartier, De Bethune, Girard-Perregaux, Glashütte Original, Hautlence, H. Moser & Cie., IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Kari Voutilainen, Ladoire, Laurent-Ferrier, MCT, Montblanc, Panerai, Parmigiani, Peter Speake-Marin, Piaget, Rebellion, RGM, Roger Dubuis, Romain Gauthier, Vacheron Constantin, Zenith

I've never seen most of these in person so hopefully it will be worth it. According to the website, the reps will bring the new designs that aren't out in stores yet.

Also, since I'm paying I won't feel guilty trying on everything I can get my hands on. Lol.

I recommend Basel in Switzerland.

As I have heard, next year it will start early. March 8th to 14th.

Almost all brands there, except the Richmond group, which has their show in January in Geneva.

Yep, early in 2012 and late in 2013 because the hall is going under a huge construction project as soon as Basel 2012 finishes.

Just got back from the NYC show. I'd highly recommend it to anyone in the vacinity of the remaining shows or to anyone thinking of the NYC show next year.

I had a blast trying on 250k watches. I got to see a lot of brands I only reat about and got to meet some of the watch makers representing their companies. In the case of RGM and other independents, the owners/founders/watchmakers were on hand to discuss their watches.

The second half consisted of a presentation over dinner.

Great info!! The best watch experience I've ever had.
