So after a recent scare with a sticking button i was thinking what’s the worst thing thats ever happened to your watch? other that the obvious theft and loss, things like run over after dropping it..... dog burying it in the garden .... wife giving it away thinking it was a copy etc. etc the wackier the better lol!
Come and guys share your stories, must be on hinsight some good stories out there!

I was holding two breitlings a year or two ago, when one slipped from my hand from about 4 feet toward a hard wood floor. As I reacted to grab it, I let go of the other one and both hit the floor. End result was the one I dropped second needing a service and the original one being just fine.

Well I was mugged for my watch , a sweet little Gruen Cervex made in 1928 ,so when the mugger woke up I'm sure he found a new job, cuz he sucked at mugging LOL

Hmmm

Dropped my Navitimer....as it was heading down towards a hardwood floor, I tried to catch it on my foot.....that was bad...'cos I kicked it further away into my kitchen ....which has a granite floor.....

Scratched crystal, bent crown....and a £175 bill from BUK to fix/service it..

Oh and the lost B1 in January....

Oh and my Emergency flying off of my wrist at the driving range......8 ft up and then face down onto the concrete....still got the dents to show for it....

Apart from that I really look after my stuff.....

D

One of the first rules you learn when you work in a laboratory setting is that when you drop something, don't try to catch it - it always ends badly - just stand clear!

I've magnetized a watch badly after standing in the "red zone" of an NMR (like and MRI machine).

While I've had my fair share of dropped watches and smacks into the doorframe as I walk by (a couple of each), fortunately none of these incidents has resulted in any serious damage...touch wood

I took my Super Avenger in for service because it stopped self winding (it would stop keeping time completely during the day and every night). After having my watch for 3 weeks, I just got a call from my AD stating that the winding is damaged and the dial is loose. They are blaming me for the damage based on scratches on the bracelet and case. Breitling is going to cover the repair of the dial but not the winding!!! They want $345 to fix my watch.

I am so pissed off right now I can't even think clearly. I have owned several Rolex Datejust watches and wore them exactly the same way without EVER having an internal component issue. External scratched and dents on the Rolex NEVER affected the internal workings.

The AD tried to tell them that it is because the Super Avenger is a bigger and heavier watch and can affect things like the winding if it is bumped or shocked too hard. WTF.... are you kidding me! Right now I am more than half temped to go back to a Rolex!!!

Has anyone else ever had this issue????

Way too many cockroach companies that will try to find any way to blame the customer to soak them for more cash. So you have to baby a SA. lol Tell them they're right, you've been using it to protect the back of your head when you have your violent seizures. Or maybe it's what you used to drive the nails in when building your new patio. I'm very happy to not have had the pleasure of a repair with BUSA... knock on wood... with a Super Avenger of course, since all we do is bang them around for fun anyway.

Bypass the AD and contact BUSA directly. Stay calm and let them know you never banged or dropped your watch. If they do not cave, ask them for the name and contact info of the head of customer relations at Breitling SA in Switzerland.

Worst thing that happened to a watch of mine was that it was purchased by me. :D
