Have you ever noticed someone wearing a fake watch and point it out to the wearer?

I had a friend of a friend show me his Hublot after he found out I was into watches. It was rose gold colored, and the rotor was detached and flopping around through the display back. I was obviously a fake, but he told me that his uncle gave it to him, and I wasnt sure if that was the truth so I didnt call him out on it. If he told me he bought it from a dealer I definitely would have pointed it out though...probably ridicule him afterward as well.

A former co-worker had a fake breitling for bentley. He used to wear it all the time and I always noticed it. One day we got into a discussion about watches and I didnt out right call him out, but did show that I had a pretty good knowledge about breitling. I asked him how he liked his 6.75. I guess he felt guilty and he came clean to me and said it was a replica. Needless to say, I never saw him wearing it around the office again.

I saw you point out a fake Navi on one particular brands forum. And that persons photo was rapidly deleted.

is it gone?? hahaha i merely asked, with all due respect, if it was a navitimer and if it was real.

that thing was baaaaad. but if you post a pic of a bad fake breathing and call it real, you gotta expect somebody to ask you about it.

did you see that thing?

Kinda... My cousin told me he bought a ling and he sent me a picture. It was one of those fake tourboulon ones (I dont know if I spelled that right). I very quickly told him it was fake (thanks bsource) and teased the crap out of him. Turns out it was his buddys who had been passing off as a real one to their circle of friends. My cousin told me his friend was so embarrassed he never wore it again.

Ok, so this is going to be a slippery subject and I'll probably upset someone out there....

To me the conscious purchase and/or use of counterfeit goods is an intergrity breach. Of course we all get some satisfaction from the pretension of having name brand things, but there is something much more important than that - understanding and appreciating quality and detail. Years ago my first car was a Ford Escort. Although I would have liked something nicer at the time, I did not glue a Mercedes emblem to the grill. It was what it was and I wasn't pretending. Now I can appreciate the engineering and detail that my car has and am proud of the work I do to have earned it. Some days a still wear an old Citizen military watch that I bought for $80 and I'm not ashamed of it. The point is that our worldly possessions do not define us, BUT they do say something about us - tastes, accomplishment, etc. In my only so humble opinion, if someone knowingly wears a fake watch, they are saying that they are faking whatever position in life they are trying to project.

Now to answer the question, I won't point out a fake to someone if I suspect it. But if the person admits that its fake and is not ashamed of themselves, I'll try to help them feel bad about it.

Then what to say about fake bags, purses, scarfs, jewelery and I could go on...

I've only pointed them out on forums from people posting wrist shots or what not because the are either A: (95%) trying to pass a fake off to WIS and deserve to be called out or B: (5%) don't know and have the right to find out.

I've never had the opportunity in the real world. I've seen about a million known fakes (spending so much time in Las Vegas), but no one has been enough of an ass to really deserve it.

I really don't see the point.

99.9% of people wearing fakes are well aware that they are fakes but that's their choice. I don't begin to understand it and I dislike the support for the industry but I'm not going to point it out to people.

A couple of people I work with have worn fakes in the past (including a guy who wore a fake Bentley to his interview with me) and when they realise that I am into watches then they stop wearing them, but that's it.

I've seen a few fakes on people's wrists in real life, but I've only ever called one out publically once, and that was a guy I knew through work, and he FULLY deserved it! His entire sense of humour was based on taking the p*** out of other people, so I fully enjoyed making him look a prat in front a few people. Childish, I know, but boy was it satisfying!

Exactly and if they're well aware what is there left to say? It's their choice.

Now if they wear a fake of which they're not aware of, then it's a whole different ballgame.
