I have a job interview later this afternoon and was wanting opinions as to what watch to wear. The interview panel will consist of mostly lawyers (probably 3-4). Would you wear my Rolex DateJust 18k/SS on jubilee or on gator as shown, the Breitling B2, my vintage Omega Seamaster SS on a brown croc strap, or my Tag Carrera (brown) on brown croc strap? I am probably wearing a brown suit.

Those are the watches I am considering. Thoughts?

Initial knee-jerk response is this, and it assumes old stereotypes and prejudices that may no longer apply.

There are variables here. If its a job in the old "traditional" professions, and if there is no big age difference between you and your interviewers, the Rolex on bracelet. If there is, the Omega. If the job is not and everybody's under 40, wear the Tag. It will be intresting to see other responses.

If the watch you're wearing makes any difference in the outcome of the interview, you don't want the job.

Cant go wrong with that Omega. Classy, and its hard to believe that it would rub anyone the wrong way.

Absolutely, wear the vintage Omega. It's simple and unobtrusive. You don't want them to look at your watch (they likely won't anyway). It detracts from what is going on. A watch won't get you a job, but the wrong watch - like wearing an iced out Bentley - could cost you a job.

So I disagree with Dan a bit (but then he works for Google. Is there such a thing as appropriate attire at a silicon valley company??) If you are wearing a nice and conservative suit for the interview you will be initially perceived one way and a light blue Pimp suit with matching pimp hat another way entirely.

Indeed. The valley is a different world. I see billionaires wearing t-shirts, shorts and crocs on a daily basis. I think somewhere in our advice to applicants we tell them not to wear a suit to the interview.

But I'd still say that people shouldn't judge you on stuff like this.

I would offer this suggestion, perhaps focus less on the watch and more on the suit, something like this perhaps, one thing's for sure, nobody will even notice what watch you have on.

Post subject:  Job interview....ANY OF THESE ARE FINE!

Hello,
Any of these would be fine!

Important points:-
1) Watch MUST be a dress watch (not a sports watch on a strap)
2) Watch MUST be discrete
3) Watch MUST be mechanical unless a Holy Trinity member ie Patek 3944

Definitely the Omega, for reasons already expressed well by RJ and shark.

I wore the Omega. And as it turned out it fit perfectly. Low-key interview - felt right at home. Thanks for the help. I should here something by Friday :D

I would go with the Omega, and I see you did. It's such a clean, classic look to me. Now I want one lol. To me, the Rolex Datejust in two tone with the gold face is a little over the top. (no disrespect to those who like it. Just an opinion for his interview) Good luck!
