Hey guys!

I've been looking for a "beater", or more specifically a watch that I could take sailing in rough weather, and have been seriously thinking about an Omega Seamaster.

I've found one for sale at a Norwegian site (finn.no), and wondered if there are any tell-tale signs I need to be aware of with regards to authenticity.

The seller claims to have all the papers and the box, but he has not included photos of these. I have requested the high-res photos and photos of the papers and box.

I'm planning on asking the seller to meet me at the Omega AD in Oslo for a check-up, but would like a gut feeling before we get there.

The ad is here: http://www.finn.no/finn/torget/tilsalgs/bilder?finnkode=29869108

I think you have it covered with asking for better photos, rather than the arty ones he has posted, and if he agrees to meet at an AD then, then he knows its right.

Good luck,

Ian

He sent me new shots, with the box and papers, meeting him at the AD next week!

Well, he got cold feet, then changed his mind again. I'm grabbing this one before he changes his mind once more. Meeting him at the AD this PM.

And the deal is done!

It's a gorgeous watch, and will be a great beater!

Congrats on the watch. It beautiful.

I've purchased many "beater" watches only to realize they were too nice to be "real" beaters. I have a feeling the same thing will happen to you with this watch. Lol.

Hehe, yeah, I know what you're saying. I tend to treat my watches with some amount of care, but I needed one to take snorkelling and so on, for which this one is perfect.

:real:

The He valve on the replicas is at 50, not 51 minutes.

Congrats on picking up a classic piece.
