Other than McLarens connection with Tag, anyone know what other tie-ins there are between F1 teams and watch manufacturers ?

Oris are linked to Williams.

Not sure if it's still available but they used to do a set with a watch, miniature replica steering wheel & a part from a race used car with a certificate. Nice boxed set - fancied it at the time but couldn't afford it - now happy with my 'lings.

Funny - I used to want a Ford Capri but don't now!

I was thinking them same when watching the GP yesterday. Think of F1 and watches and most people think Tag Heuer. Must be plenty of room for Breitling in there!

Doesn't Panerai have a deal with Ferrari? I know they aren't really F1 related but if I were to buy a Panerai it would probably be a Ferrari edition.

Most drivers have a personal watch deal, which is most evident in the pressroom interviews after the race. You will always see each of them pull on a watch, and prominently display it uncovered on their wrist during the interview. Ferrari does indeed have a deal with Panerai, but their top driver Kimi Raikkonnen has a personal deal with TAG Heuer (from his days at McLaren -- who is partially owned by TAG), and their other driver, Felipe Massa has a deal with Richard Mille. Retired Ferrari great Michael Schumacher had a personal deal with Omega, who produce a line of special edition Speedmasters for him (Ferrari at the time was officially linked to Girard-Perregaux for their timepieces). McLaren's current driver lineup both wear TAG Heuer, Lewis Hamilton with his own signature edition. Oris is a sponsor for WilliamsF1, and produce a whole line, including models for each driver. There's a million more examples, but suffice it to say F1 is probably the single most prominent endorser pool for wristwatch manufacturers.

Official F1 timekeeping has also in the past been done by TAG heuer and Longines

My earliest memory of anything watch related was back in the 80s seeing the TAG heuer logo flash up next to some lap times while watching F1 races... probably explains why my first watch was a Heuer really, and probably why my dads was a longines

Watching the Canadian Grand Prix today I noticed that the BMW 'lollipops' that the guy holds in front of the drivers during pitstops had Certina on it.

Just ordered an F1 watch from Oris. I'll try to post pics of it when it gets in. :D

I'm pretty sure Mark Blundell (UK ITV) has a white dial Motors on most the time when he's in the pits before races.

What's Formual 1?

Just kidding. Not much F1 stuff on the tube here. Incredibly fast cars. I like the fact that F1 cars don't race oval tracks. It's really boring watching cars go in circles, but F1 doesn't have Danica Patrick!

Here's my Seiko F1. I like the "instrument cluster" face. One of 750, it came with a gear from a Honda F1 and a link to research the gear number online. The gear with this watch came from 2004 China Grand Prix. Sorry, my close-up watch photography skills are no good.
