Post subject: | Dilemma... |
Alright, I have a dilemma that I think only the fine folks on this board can only understand. Basically it's between picking up a Corum Admiral's Cup vs. an Omega PO The back story: I have idolized the Corum Admiral's Cup line for many years now. However, the current offerings in the line up are not to my taste and I am more fond of the styling from the 2004-2008 years. In fact, the only watch I would ever consider buying used would be an Admiral's Cup from this time period because I like them so much. Fast forward to a couple months ago. I have also fallen in love with the Omega PO. I now have enough funds pulled together to get a PO on rubber (I intended to buy a PO for daily wearer and like rubber better than bracelet for daily use, weird?) and I am pretty close to pulling the trigger. I have all these beautiful plans of buying NATO straps for it and the whole bit. I have recently been doing some internet browsing (dangerous!) and found a reputable jeweler has a 2008 Corum Admiral's Cup for sale. It is roughly the same price I was thinking a PO on rubber would be post discount, minus a couple hundred. Thus, the dilemma becomes what watch to get (assuming the Corum is still available, I haven't contact the jeweler yet)? It is going to be, realistically, a couple years before I can rebuild the reserves to get another watch and I would hate, for whatever reason, the PO to go the same way as the Corum in terms of me not liking the current offerings. My questions for you all are: What watch do you think I should get? Do you think I have anything to worry about in regards to future PO styling (speculation, I know)? ...and the seller of the Corum lists the condition to be 93% and it looks really good from the pictures. Their price is $2995 and is a chronograph model (comes with box and papers). Do you think this is a fair price? Here is a pic of the Corum. |

That admirals cup looks fantastic. I dont know too much about Corum, but it sure is a nice looking piece. Especially to wear around the yacht club! I'm a sucker for nautical themed anything. I like the PO too, but I bet you wont see many others wearing that admirals cup. |

you sure you dont like the new designs much more?? this older design IMO is a bit dated. that said i think this watch when brand new retailed for roughly 6k correct. so for a disontinued design that will need a full service soon i dont know if half of retail is fair jmo. |

If it was your only good watch, I'd say get the PO. Since you have another (or others, I don't remember), go for the one you have long wanted. I waited a very long time for the right Navitimer, finally got it and couldn't be happier |

I did purchase the Corum, but it will be a couple weeks before I'm home and can get my hands on it and take pics. |
