Post subject:  Am I Asking Too Much ? Watch Buyer Courtesy?

Does anyone know what courtesy is these days when inquiring/buying a watch? I just recently sold my Soh46 ,and am amazed at the level of courtesy buyers have. I had 2 people ( at different times )tell me they wanted the watch ,and were gonna pay through wire transfer, sent the routing and acct number to them, only for them to disappear . I emailed the interested parties ,and neither one responded to any of the emails.. Am I asking to much for a grown up to say I had a change of heart I'm not interested anymore?

What! I can't believe it!

You'll be telling me next that not everyone in the Sales section reads and follows the rules, that people who PM senior members for advice don't always say thank you or that not every buyer / seller has the courtesy to leave feedback!!!!

Apologies for the cynicism, but I find it more surprising that you found it surprising, I would pretty much expect it.

The whole double posting that you have to deal with is a nightmare, and I see you correcting it all the time . I wouldn't be as courteous as you are. You could be just like the folks on Tz, oops your post is gone.

I was just looking for a simple email that says sorry bud found it cheaper, Or I wanna go in a different direction. When someone emails you asking if you still want the object you state you wanted ,common courtesy is to respond. I guess I am expecting too much from folks, maybe there are a lot of watch snobs in the world.

I appreciate courtosy, but I try not to expect it for when it doesn't happen, it's only me who gets P.O.ed, not the potential buyer.

Shoot, I still get PMs for sales threads on other forums for watches sold months ago, because those froums make it difficult to impossible to edit the post, delete it, or change the caption. And no one reads the bloody text of the post anyway. I still respond - "Sorry, it is sold." One time on that site you mentioned I received a PM and didn't respond for a day. Then another PM with a lecture about how discourteous my delay had been. Suffice it to say my response had no semblence of courtesy. It felt good though.

Its all sales forums. I really only sell watches and golf stuff, but I get a lot of "ill take it for sure, 100%, will pay when I get home..." Only to never hear from them again. Or "will you take $xxx?" I reply that ill take it and here is my paypal... never hear from them again...

Also annoying are the people that dont respond to PMs. Ive gone out of my way to find some info for somebody and send them an unrequested PM because I thought it would help them out, and the f*ckers dont seem to feel the need respond or say thanks.

Ok , Well since it happened to Rj ,Shark , maybe this is the norm... I must of just gotten a couple tire kickers... The biggest pain in the A$$ is the email from someone who offers you some nutty price not even close to the asking price , and then sends the email to you twice saying did you get my previous email? One guy offered me 1300 for the Soh46? Really I started at 2100 . The best one was Faingator had a Sub for 5100 ,and some guy types 3500? I almost ruined the Mac keyboard with cherry Icee laughing so hard.

I have never sold a watch myself, but as I am about to try and sell my SOH to help fund a trip to Germany I will keep this thread in mind.

Off topic, but how do you guys feel about overseas shipping? I saw that you sold your SOH to a fellow from Greece and it makes me rethink my US only sale. Is it just as easy beyond filling out the extra forms at the post office?

You can't insure for full value, their are customs declarations issues, buyers often only want you to declare a small value which can create real trouble for you, I always insist the buyer assumes all risk of damage/loss in shipping. It is a last resort.

Courtesy?? HaHa, I love when I list something for sale and specify NO TRADES and I still get trade offers. Recently I was offered a trade for my Abyss, the buyer wanted to trade me his hand gun. WHAT?!?! Then some idiot on here, who just signed up for a screen name, asked me if he could buy my CSO, pay half now and half when he receives the watch. YEA OK, like I'd ever see the rest of the cash.

I didn't ship it to Greece, ( Got lucky) The buyer has a good friend in the States I am mailing it to ,and he is gonna bring it with him when he goes to Greece in 2 weeks.. The guy has loads of references ,and the guy I am mailing it too has loads of references. I am fully confident in this transaction. Shark told me awhile ago when I sold my Sa to be very careful when shipping overseas with the wording stating the buyer accepts full responsibility, luckily I found a guy in the states to buy it so it wasn't any issue , but I prefer to ship in the USA. I got 1900 for the SOH if you are looking for a price point for when you sell it.

I still don't understand why you would not take the trade for the hand gun...I mean come on...with a username like "mafia serge"...it seems pretty obvious.

Ill ship overseas if they pay by wire and agree to the terms (limited insurance, customs fees, full declaration). That way if anything happens to it, they cant do any type of reversal.

I do like my guns as much as my watches. If you were talking a trade for somthing like this http://www.hk-usa.com/civilian_products ... eneral.asp I would have to consider it :guns:
