What are your thoughts on these two models, both individually and relative to each other? I know it's an apples and oranges comparison, and preferences are personal and subjective. Still, these are two models I've considered for a long time, and still have a hard time choosing between. The Sub is something akin to a grail watch for me. Having said that, I still really like the MM, plus it has the advantage of being less common, and is subject to better discounting. Thoughts?

Then go for it Jackson.

I agree with you of course that it is less common and, I would add, much more unique.

If on top of that you can get better discounting....

As you say they are different beasts with pros and cons either way IMO.

Rolie - pretty common (relatively speaking), but a totally timeless icon with a true in-house movement.
MMC - pretty rare (again, relatively speaking), but pretty unknown outside of WIS circles and with a movemnt based on the ETA 2892.

Personally I don't overly like either, but on balance I'd definitely go with the Sub C. (As I've said before, the only Rolex I personally hanker after is a Deepsea).

Ha ha, totally different answer from mine (and more detailed).

That's why I love this forum.

But that doesn't help Jackson I'm afraid.

I would seriously consider the UN for myself if it was in house, but the Rolex is probably the 'better' watch.

I do like the UN and the discounts associated with them but I think in this case you'd have to go for the Rolex.

If i was using my head I would say Sub-C, but my heart says the much more unique and interesting design of the UN.

Good problem to have JS

Do you say that regarding its movement, its build quality, its finishing, or what?

Thanks for the comments, guys.

They're both fine watches, but since I've owned
three Subs in the last thirty years, I'd go for
the MM. Subs are great timepieces, but they've
become so.....ordinary. :(

The MM, on the other hand, is rather unique; you'r not
going to see many of them in everyday situations. Of course,
the Sub has better resale value...

Like you say, it's really apples and oranges. Choose whichever
one that sings loudest to you. :)

Good luck.

Steve

Me too, but as it ain't it'd be the Rolie for me.

I've always liked the MM until I try one on. Just does nothing for me personally. Nor am I enamored with the bracelet.

You already know how I feel about the Sub C.

Not even a close call in my head. Then again, that is a location currently obsessed by the Green Sub C, so my neural-zip code might questionable.

What don't you like about the bracelet? Is it the style, the build, etc.?

So, an LV is in your future, huh?

Style mainly plus it is somewhat thin.

As for the green Sub, it's made it to my frontal lobe, but I'm on a frontal lobotomy waiting list. Hope springs eternal. And random drooling.

Two months and waiting for me. Just hung up with my AD and she still doesnt have a clue when it's coming in. As soon as it does it will be on my wrist in 24 hours!

Sub all the way, not even close IMO.
