This seems to have all the components of the new Subc. How does this watch look compared to the real one? http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/new-ce ... 48483.html |

Photos aren't working for me, but I moved it from the Replica Breitling section as 1) it's not a Breitling and 2) the listing is for a homage piece. |

It could just be the close-up angles, but the lugs/shoulders look more tapered and rounded than on the Sub-C; they appear to be an amalgam of the 116610 and the older 16610 lugs. The bracelet also looks like it has polished center links, unlike on the SS Sub, which is uniformly brushed. Also, considering the price, you really have to wonder what corners have been cut: are the numbers on the bezel inlaid platinum? Is the bezel action like butter? Is the steel 904L? Is the spring peracrhom? Are the markers white gold? Is it built like a tank? I'd lay odds the answers are all no. |

The company is a front for the Chinese replica mega-manufacturers. An attempted legal means to move the replicas from US points of sale. All they are trying to do is "sterilize" the exact watch that would otherwise be stamped "Rolex" or "Panerai" etc...and shipped from China. Helenarou doesn't manufacture the watch, the Chinese replica makers do. Ebay is forever shutting them down. Then they reappear. The gold plated ETA is a standard of Chinese fakes. These are not true homages made by micro-companies like Alpha, they are Chinese made fakes bought unmarked by a distributor looking for a legal niche. It looks good in pictures, but the clasp will break down in short order. Half the link screws will be frozen or stripped. The lume will suck. So if you want to support the Chinese fake manufacturers, buy these guys. |

I was just wondering, has Rolex patented that clasp design? If so, then the knock off would still be illegal, even if it doesn't feature the branding. |

Is the magnification on the cyclops correct? It looks like it might be. I read that's an easy way to spot a fake because they're usually not as strong. |

Can't tell from those pics, Pete, but I doubt it. Like them or hate them, the optics on the rolex cyclops are near perfect. Not just exactly 2.5X but also without any distortion. Noticably better than the cyclops on other higher end watches I've had. Hard to believe you would get that on a $200 Chinese fake manufacture. |
