Post subject:  Possible Problems with Watch?

Hey guys, I haven't post anything on the forum for a long time since I've been pretty school-wise. However, I have been consistently working on watches! I was actually very surprised on the profit margin, even after the hefty fees from Ebay and paypal. I'm working on this one watch and I had a question about why it isn't working.

I got it to run for about 30 minutes the other day and then it stopped indefinitely. I hadn't touched it or anything but it wouldn't start up again so I took it apart, cleaned it, put back together, and oiled it. Everything is intact and moving when i manually turn the wheels and such. However, when I wind it up and move the balance, it runs for two seconds then stops. It seems like there isn't a sufficient amount of power that is being sent to the balance for it to continue to vibrate. Does anyone know any possible reasons for this?

Regards,
crasian1030

Could be a million different things. Check:

1. hole and cap jewels throughout the running train - especially the balance
2. pallet fork and pallet jewels
3. depthing throughout the train
4. end shake on all pivots
5. is it the right mainspring
6. is the mainspring / barrel / arbor in good condition
7. is the balance the right one and in good condition

Thanks for the help. I got it to run again, however, only in two positions, face up and face down. It runs smoothly and nonstop for a long time (not sure since it hasn;t stopped for hours now), but if I tilt it or try to lean it up, the balance stops vibrating. Does that narrow down the list of problems?
