OK! Now that I've been in the horological hobby (addiction; six watches in six months), I thought it was time to subscribe to a magazine or two to supplement the knowledge I've been gaining from the forums. I will probably make a visit to Barnes & Noble to check out a couple but would appreciate the wisdom of my fellow fanatics here on the source. What are your favorite magazines and for what reasons? Thanks in advance for your comments. Tom |

I subscribe to both International Watch and WatchTime. If I could only choose one it would be IW - monthly publication, broad coverage, etc although the quality of copy editing recently has been rather low. WatchTime does better model reviews, they always have at least 3 or 4 tests of specific models in each issue and those are very comprehensive. |

I subscribe to QP and 00/24 Watch World. However, these are European based and may be a little difficult to get hold of the US. I enjoy reading both of them very much. |

I have a subscription to both International Watch & Watch Time. I just recently let my subscription to IW run out as I didn't feel they published enough quality info for a monthly mag. Still enjoy Watch Time though can be frustrating sometimes when a watch magazine dedicates to much print to over the top watches ($30,000-$150,000) which are so far out of my league. I enjoy learning about these expensive watches just not as often as they seem to like to report on them. Just my two cents... |

The best magazine I have seen is called "World of Watches". It is from Singapore and comes out quarterly. Unfortunately the only place you can get it is from Singaporean newsagencies. Ben. Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph Breitling Airwolf |

I dropped my sub to Watch Time as they did not cover the Breitling line with any consistency and often, when they did, got the info wrong. Knowing that the Breitling stuff was so far off I could never trust the reviews of other watches. Admit to being very biased but if you are going to put together a Watch magazine I do not think it is too much to ask you to do your research and get the basic facts correct. Just my .02. Best health, Frank. |

Best health, Frank. So what did they get wrong Frank? I'm genuinely curious as I have a subscription to WatchTime and actually really like the magazine. I have not had a subscription with them for a while but I do leaf through it at the news stand. Some of the things I remember was a review of dive watches, including the Steelfish and ignoring the Seawolf. When they have a review of new watches the leave out most of the new releases from Breitling. They had an article about chrono's that are usable as dive watches and they included the Ti M1 but had the details of the watch wrong, never mentioning the fact that the watch can be used as a chrono underwater. They also had a review of Pilot watches and not one of the Breitling line was included. To me there is a real bias against Breitling and since that is the brand I follow the mag is of little interest to me. If on the other hand I followed IWC or Rolex I would have a lifetime subscription. Just my .02 as I have stated but to me a watch line as popular as Breitling should have the commensurate exposure in the press. Best health, Frank. |

International Watch doesn't have a huge amount of Breitling coverage either, and they certainly make their share of mistakes too. In terms of the brands that get coverage, the cynic in me suspects that a lot of the brands pay for content - 'advertorial' type stuff. |

I agree that certain watch brands get more coverage "coincidently" as a result of spending advertising dollars with the magazine. |

Ricardo, I can get QP, here in NYC but it is a little pricey at $13.00 an issue. Roff, I agree with you - I have had this belief for a number of years! Cheers, Enezdez |
