Let me start out by saying that I absolutely love my collection as it is, but as you keep going you realise there really is no stop to this addiction of ours! I keep finding out about new models that I need all the time  Thankfully I have my watch limits to keep me in check (no more than 20 watches, costing more than 40K each!) and lately I have been thinking of going down in quantity and up in quality, you know get some perpetual calendars, higher end GO,PP, Langes etc.

This is already underway, I had sold an Omega PloProf and a Hublot Aero Bang for a black Themes ROO. Next up, got a Lange RG Timezone so letting the following go: IWC BI, JLC Extreme W-Alarm, and a PAM 359. I knwo I know, all three are magnificent watches, is selling all three and adding 10K worth the Lange? In my opinion, yes, yes, yes!

Once I have completed that, I plan to let another three go, add a bit of cash and get a forged carbon ROO once that comes out and lastely, for this year, the RG Glashutte Perp. Calendar.

I have to say, I am actually quite excited about this! I would eventually lige to get down to 6-7 super watches over 20 great watches!

Exciting times for you there Altair! I'm looking forward to seeing the final FINAL collection! (But I bet you won't be able to stick to 6 or 7! Before you know it you'll need 20 super watches!)

What about all the new Panerai models...are you still getting those? I thought you had put down a deposit on like 3 or 4 of them.

yes, and I have already sold two (My Zero and now selling the 359) so far, need to let at least two more go from the old stock as the new ones are too sweet not to own!

I really love the dial on the 359, but the new releases are just awesome...especially the bronzo. I only wish that they had come out in a 44-45mm version instead.

I like the idea of selling some of the "great" watches to get fewer "super" watches, and at the end of the day having 7-10 total watches is just about perfect IMO. I would rather have 7-10 killer options than 20+ that would struggle to find wrist time. If you can't wear it on a somewhat regular rotation then it is a waste of moeny as far as I am concerned.

Love the idea Altair, and I am interested to see what you pick up!! I especially like the carbon ROO...that thing is just sick!!

That pretty much sums up my current thinking. As nice as it is to get a new watch, it is going to be dificult to decide on what has to go, the Deepsea might be next

Hmmm, no more than 20......

Wasn't it last year that it was no more than 12????? :poke:

I admire a WUS who knows what he wants from his collection, but I'll believe it when I see it young man! You have way too many years of watch collecting ahead of you and your tastes are going to inevitably evolve further. I hear Harry Winston already has you deposit for the Opus 15

Though I have neither the collection scope nor budget, I have gone through the same process. I felt it was wrong if I didn't wear one of my better watches at least once a week, and came to the conclusion that either I had too many, or maybe one or two had lost their luster with me, or both. It did seem a waste, and there were other things "out there." Even so, I suspect this may also be an evolutionary step, eventually adding another couple and then circling around to the same place. Although I am really happy with my own revamped collection, I have the sense that it's just part of an ongoing journey. Good luck on making a fabulous collection even more so.

:yeahthat I think a lot of us have this same issue - we get our collection where we think it is just right and then over time we start to alter it. Pick up something new and let another go. Like other hobbies (have this same issue with them too) I think this is just the way it is, always striving for something more satisfying :) . When will we be happy? .

Good luck Altair on your "journey".

you should buy a christophe claret, i dont love the dual tow, but the adagio is the nicest watch i have ever seen, something about dual gongs just makes me happy. the black jack is AWESOME too. i have some wrist time with both and they are just mind-blowingly cool

Themes and a carbon might be too similar, no?

Interesting decision Altair. It needs courage to do that. And hard decision making.

Wish you luck with your choices.

Aero Big Bang was an incredible watch, no way i'd give that up. The 359 is awesome, if it was brushed like the 312 & 320 it would be the perfect Pam imo. Not a fan of the downsizing plan at the expense of giving up some outstanding pieces.

There seems to be a bit of this activity occurring on the forum at the moment which I think is good as it prevents one from becoming too static. I think it's a great idea Altair, I just don't know how you're going to sell some of those phenomenal pieces you have  Still with the pieces coming in maybe it won't be too hard. Picture please
