Post subject:  A good golf watch

Firstly, Are all quartz watch safe to golf in?

I believe I am in the market for a quartz watch...since I'm not the world biggest fan of quartz watches I figured it better be cool then...that's why I'm thinking about the possibility of a emergency on a rubber strap for comfort reasons.

Are there any other cool quartz watches out there that any of you know of that would be good/safe for golf?

Thanks for the help!

I would assume that any quartz watch would be fine. There's nothing that can really get damaged from the movement of your swing, but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure I f'd up my CE by playing golf because I was pushing -30+ seconds per day. Waiting for it to get back from service still. I hope that quartz are 100% ok....

I cant even golf in a watch, I would think a anything smaller mm wise with a leather band would be good to golf in. I could never golf in my Navitimer or Soh, and I surely cant in the Deepsea. I may try and golf in my G Shock next week.

Yeah, I read somewhere (here?) that the motion of a golf swing and the speed or some crap can screw up an auto watch. I can't golf in a watch anyway so I never worried about it.

If you're on the golf course, you shouldn't be worried about the time.

Phil wears a Rolex Cellini and seems to do quite well while doing so. Seems like a good starting point to me!

1. Quartz

2. Lightweight

3. I suppose you could use a bracelet, but I would think you would want a secure, snug fit. A waterproof strap or rubber if you sweat at all, or if it's hot.

The rest should be up to you. I have worn my Bathys quartz watch on a rubber strap golfing a few times. Worked great.

There is a new watch I saw...Garmin maybe? Anyway, it has a GPS built in and I think it was around $200.

As for other watches, I was recently thinking about a Suunto X9 or X10.

Or, you could buy that Richard Mille that Bubba wears. :wowzers

There are an increasing number of mechanical watches that are designed to be for golfers - the issue is not so much the swing but the extremely high G forces that occur when the head meets the ball. I dont pretend to understand the physics but the g-forces are a lot higher than you would expect - it's been discussed here a few times.

In terms of a golf appropriate watch, I don't golf so can't offer any personal experience but a quartz piece should be OK.

Yeah but Rolex pays him to wear it and will comp him a new one if it breaks.

Tag Heuer make a SPECIFIC Golf orientated watch... I tried it and the strap is great... Plus if it messes up then you got recourse as not fit for purpose!!
