Post subject: | Questions about straps |
I'm thinking of getting a strap for my Chrono Superocean. Right now I just have the Pro II bracelet, and I'm wanting something different. My number one criterion is getting the ends to fit flush with the case, as I don't like gaps at the lugs. From what I can tell from the Breitling website, the OEM straps intended to fit a CSO do not fit flush with the case. Is that correct? That leaves me considering going custom, with ABP. How good are they at getting the ends to fit a particular brand and model of watch? Also, I don't have any tang or deployant currently. How are ABP's own? Is it OK to go with theirs, or should I go OEM and just use ABP for the strap? Thanks in advance. |

Do you mean getting the strap to curve with the case the way that the bracelets do, or just to have a straight edged strap closer to the case? You need to consider that the strap will move relative to the case and so you need to consider rubbing. ABP will make a strap to your exact specs so if you ask for the springbar hole to be further down the strap and to put a curve in the case then they can likely do that (I haven't done that specifically), but they usually ask for specific measurements from you - perhaps even a trace of the case curve. Can't comment on their clasps / deployants. |

I have found the croco and calf straps fit the CSO as well as the other models, but judge for yourself - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29361&p=218043#p218043 |

I had originally thought about getting the strap to curve with the case, like endpieces on a bracelet. I got the idea from the Omega straps for the Planet Ocean. ![]() ![]() The Breitling straps don't quite get there, as Tom's pics show. (They're nice, but it looks like there's more of a gap there than with the PO or ABP pics). To get close to this standard with ABP, I don't know if it's better to go with the "Curved Ends" option (E), or the "Thick Attachments" option (F), which ABP recommends for Rolex and Omega. The pics on their website of the Thick Attachments straps look pretty close to what I'm looking for, even though they're not absolutely flush. ![]() Curved ends ![]() Thick attachments Roffensian wrote: Can't comment on their clasps / deployants. If I were to order an OEM clasp, would I need to send it to ABP to affix as part of the order, or is that something I could do myself? |

It looks like the CSO case is curved between the lugs, compared to, say, an Evo/Blackbird case, which is actually flat, making the non-curved strap ends fit better. ![]() Still, given all the variables in getting a custom strap to fit right (and all the chances to get it wrong), maybe I should adjust my expectations. |
