Ok so neither of the watches in question are Breitlings, but Im hoping maybe some of you can shed some light on them. Just got back from my AD after asking someone about the fate of the older style Sea Dweller from Rolex and he said he didnt hear anything official from Rolex but he has heard through the "Repvine" that it will be discontinued. Which brought us to the next part of the convo, the older style black Omega Seamaster (2254.50) is discontinued as well. This information didnt come from the manager at my AD, the person I normally deal with for all my purchases and issues, so I took it with a grain a salt. Does anyone have any more information on either of these watches, or has heard anything similar? BTW, I am going back tomorrow to personally speak with MY AD, not just someone who is working there looking to "push product." Hopefully he can confirm or deny these rumors. Thanks all. |

I can confirm that the Omega 2254.50 (also the small and quartz versions) will be terminated. They will be replaced by the new James Bond model, which will be black instead of blue, and which will have the coaxial automatic movement (or quartz). The old model will probably be available until summer, but I already decided to buy at least 20 of them with the last possible delivery, as it will sell furtheron because of the pricing. Quite often some models are stoped, but only from the topsellers its important. Cannot say anything for Rolex. BG Thomas |

Thanks for the update Alien. Going today to pick another one up, not so much as an investment, but because I really like the watch and want to have one in good shape a few years down the road. (The one I have now and my Breitling SuperOcean spend the most time on my wrist, so they get banged around alot.) |

Ok, just got back from my AD and he confirmed that the Rolex Sea Dweller is definitely discontinued. So naturally, I told him to attempt to track one down, which he did. (Apparently the last that was available to him.) And naturally I bought it. He then proceeded to advise me to not wear it, and keep the boxes in all orginal condition, because he speculates that it will be worth money later on. (Not a big deal to me, because I already have one.) As for my opinion, who knows what Rolexes will become collectible? I wanted a back up in case I ever lose mine or something. I will feel much better knowing I have a replacement for it, and would not have to drop 10 grand for the updated version. |
