My mind is torn between these two, mammoth watches IMO, I was all set to pull the trigger on the Sub 50 LV and Sharkman put me onto the 116610's. My criteria for what I was looking for was, In-house movement. non- chrono, 40-42mm and understated in style and to me both fill that nicely. I love both and the 50 LV is one very sweet looking watch with its instantly recognizable Green bezel. One of the reasons I am holding off, well the one main reason, the tin foil clasp, How did Rolex get away with it for so long? I guees its such a strong brand. The price I can get it for is also very attractive to me. Now the newer 116610LN, again what a watch. The clasp, like SM says. is world leading and much more like what I would expect from a market leader and the new movement is a plus. I am not sure on the new lug design on it. IMO it give it a kind of retro look which I am unsure of yet, I am sure I'll get over that. Then there is the price, the list on the New Sub is 6360E. I have hammered out a deal, with one thing and another(don't ask), in a way that either will be costing me under 5K. As it I stated I am torn between the two and, as always, would value opinions on the purchase... ![]() |

That's a no brainer for me; Ceramic Sub without thinking twice. The LV is a great watch but the clasp is pathetic and the bracelet feels very very poorly made. Last year I wanted that watch and Driver's comments swung my decision and I'm glad because I would have hated that watch. The new ceramic sub wears a little large because of the redesigned case/lugs, the bracelet is made with solid links, and the clasp is incredible. I also love the new Green Ceramic Sub, it has to be seen in person to be appreciated, it doesn't look like the incredible hulk, it almost appears black from certain angles...and since you like the LV you may like that piece. Good luck. |

1. Pick up 16610. 2. Listen carefully. 3. Shake gently holding the head of the watch. 4. Put down 16610. 5. Buy the new SubC. ![]() |

When the joy and novelty of a new watch recedes, the quality remains. Get the new one. |

The build quality of the head was always good on the 16610, and the newer models are no exception |

![]() The clasp killed it for me - it is similar in design to your typical Breitling clasp, but every part of it is so thin and tin-like, it deflated me every time I put it on or adjusted it. Same clasp and bracelet issue with the LV green bezel Sub. So my opinion is no surprise - the Sub Ceramic is balls on perfect. ~The End~ |

Ive done this and it sounds like plastic. Is the build quality on the new Sub C that much better? Without question. The old bracelet/clasp was easily the worst among all luxury watches. The new one is probably the best. The case has always been pretty solid. The new one is a bit chunkier in design which lends a more substantial look and feel though. |

Night and day. When I listed the Explorer here I got a couple inquiries from BS members and felt compelled to mention the clasp was pretty crappy IMO. Had Ilisted it on another forum I likely wouldn't have said anything. Ultimately I traded up for another Rolex that feels and functions like a real watch. Even the exterior of the clasp looks cheap. It is poorly stamped so it looks "fuzzy," including the Rolex logo. Ihave had much better quality on under $1000 watches - including the infamous Xezo! |

like others have said between the 2 my money would go on the on the newer SUB c 11610. IMO i like the the newer lugs because it makes the watch wear a little larger than the advertised 40mm. i had no idea how much larger till I actually saw one on my friends wrist. something about this new Sub took me from hater to believer in one viewing. Awesome piece. |
