Not sure if this has been posted in one of the Baselworld threads, but Hublot have produced something very cool (IMO) - a 4000m water resistant diver! ![]() http://www.******.com/blog/2011/3/31/ ... hublo.html I've never remotely been a Hublot fan, but just recently they have actually started to produce some pretty cool pieces that don't look anywhere as derivative as some of their earlier designs (although there is a bit of Linde Werdelin about it!). Not sure what movement this massive new diver is running, and you can rest assured it's going to be mega-money to buy, but I think it's damn cool. Edit - Looking at the comments on that page, I guess I'm in the minority liking it! ![]() |

Yeah I think I'll pass. If I want a Linde Werdelin I'll buy one! |

But now they sure have the financial base to produce something else than derivatives (and you're being too polite). And to tell you the truth I did look at the date on the article but it was no April fool's kinda thing. At 48 (pushers excluded?), it surely won't go unnoticed but then again it won't be for anybody's wrist. One thing is for sure: it WILL be mega-bucks to buy it, as you said, because at 500 it certainly is an LE and I'm sure there will be demand for at least a coupla thousand. History is repeating itself because that's what they did with the other LEs (Ayrton Senna, Maradona etc.). What I do not understand though is why LEs that are no more available are still in their most recent catalog (Baselworld). |

I definitely thought "Linde" when I first saw it. The engineering (i.e. depth rating) of the piece is cool, but I think it's ugly. Although the brand clearly continues to demonstrate its engineering prowess, I still don't think Hublot makes a watch that's visually appealing. Also, I still can't get over what they charge. |

I also like it, which is no surprise because I like the look of Linde Werdelin watches as well. In fact I think it's the best looking Hublot I've seen. 4000m water resistance for a mechanical watch is incredibly impressive as well. |
