I love the Explorer, both the white and black dials but the Daytona doesn't look right to me. That Rose gold version with that dial is the only one that I like, not that I could afford any of them. And I hate how there's not a date on the Daytona, a date isn't really necessary to me, but when the damn thing costs that much I think it should have one.,\

Good to see Rolex making a few "radical" changes (well radical for them!) by putting a ceramic bezel on the Daytona, but neither of those watches do anything for me at all I'm afraid. I personally find the Daytona to be one of the most over-rated watches out there.

the daytona would be hot, if it wasnt a woman's sized watch, it doesnt have to be 48mm, but is 44 or 45 out of the question? come on rolex.

For Rolex? Yeah, I think it's out of the question. Go on TRF and check out the threads about the 42mm Explorer II. A lot of people act like they started putting rubber bezels on everything.

Personally I think 40mm is a bit too small, but I think that there are a lot more people in the world who can pull off a 40mm watch than a 45mm watch. And considering from what I hear it's really hard for people to find SS Daytonas out there.

at 41 it does seem on the smaller side. i agree it doesnt have to be 48 but definitiely anything over 42

I would buy a GMT IIc before that Explorer (not a fan of the Explorer's bezel), but at least they are moving to man sized watches. I have tried on several Daytona's and although they are small, I kinda like them. This one is pretty cool but between the small size, lack of date and over pricing... I wouldn't even concider buying one.

Like the Sub C and the GMT IIc, the Daytona does wear a bit larger on the wist than the stated diameter of 40mm. These and the new Date Just II (41mm) are longer lug end to lug end than most 40-41mm watches.

That said, without a date on the Daytona, it remains out of the running for me. It almost was in the running yesterday when I had both a black dial and white dial SS Daytona on the wrist. They are damn nice looking pieces on the wrist. But a monent of clarity intervened and i "just said 'no'" :)

I see one of the moderators of the Roelx forum on TZ said the UK price converted to dollars would be $6,631 according to today's exchange rate.
