Well ladies and gentlemen, my PAM AD just called with both good and bad news, the PAM 90 is available for pickup sooner than expected    :woohoo: :woohoo:

The bad news in that the 98 is going to be another three weeks :( he says he is going to make it up to me though :huh

Will post unboxing pics as soon as I am back today.

Looking forward to those pics Admin!!

Anyway got to the Ad today and told him that I was rather disapointed with the fact that I would have to wait another three weeks for my 98 :( He promised me that I would get the very first 98 and Deepsea (also my Rolex AD). He said he would make the wait worth it. The Panerai bag he gave me obviousely had a few extra surprises in there, so lets see what we have here:

Content of the bag: Panerai box :D two small Rolex boxs (????) another small bag and a couple Panerai books. Awesome!!!!

Rolex marked boxs have, as expected, Rolex promotional material. A very well made wallet and key holder. Impecabbly made but rather gauche what with the ROLEXROLEXROLEX design. Still cool freebies.

Hey look at that!!!! I had commented earlier on how cool the simple and elegant Panerai stands, and he throws one in

Really cool books, tons of info. Awesome!!!

Now for the main event :cigar: :panerai

And he threw in a very nice OEM Panerai brown strap!!!!!!

Awesome watch!!!!

Lets see how that brown strap looks on the watch.

The brown strap actually works, transforms the look of the watch completely.

The fit and finish is superb, the design elegant yet sporty and fresh. Just fantastic. The leather bands seem of really good quality and will age well, although I was hoping for something along the lines of AP leather bands, or at least Breitling straps (Breitlings happen to have the very best bracelets/straps in their price range NO competition) they are still very very good indeed.

All in all a great first Panerai experience. I am definitely not going to stop with the 90 and 98. A Monopulsante is definitely in my future.

You stink! Just kidding (sort of :) ) Looks fantastic. Since the price hike thing has pissed me off on Breitlings, I am leaning towards a Panerai now.

Congrats

IIRC, Panerai had a 20% price hike one month prior to the Breitling one...

Altair,

I have to be the first to admit that I wasnt able to handle the suspense of the first 9 slides  I had to scroll down to see the goods :D and then work my way back up.

Absolutely stunning I especially like it on the black strap. Congrats again and I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the 98.

Thanks guys, I can't tell you how thrilled I am, I can't believe I waited for so long to get a Panerai. In fact the 98 I am waiting on was ordered as a work/ buissness trip watch and as such was going to provide competition to my GMT Master IIc, now that I have actually expirienced Panerai I know it will completely replace it. So I think I am going to give the watch to my brother, who has comented on how much he lieks it and just settle on the Deepsea as my only Rolex.

What with the incoming 98 and my recent commitments to the Deepsea and Steelfish, my watch budget for 2008 has been depleted. And it is only May :(

My sights are dead straight on two watches in 2009, the Patek 5712 in red gold and the Panerai Monopulsante GMT/ Power Reserve/Chrono in black ceramic shall be mine.

Altair, simply WOW!

I'm guessing you are the same as me in as much as part of the thrill of getting a new watch is also in the packaging! I love opening up a box for the first time, and I have to say that Panerai do a superb job on their boxes.

There are a couple of Panies that I really like (Sportback's 1950 Regatta primarily!), and seeing your superb pics of a superb watch has just spurred me on even more to look at getting one sooner rather than later! Damn it!!

I have one specific Breitling that I am currently searching all over for, but after that I really may have to boost getting a Panerai up my list a bit!

Lovely watch my man!

Driver, precisely!! Thats why I posted the unboxing pics. Something about how much effort a manufacturer puts into the packaging says something about the product. And adds a degree of pleasure to that first few minutes, Panerai do a great job!!!

I would jump on the Panerai train ASAP, I can't believe I waited so long :D

Congrats on both the new aquisitions - even tho you've only got one at the present moment.

I know I go on and on about this damn 270, but it's coming within the next ten days, and I'm simply out-of-breath waiting for it...

It's everything I love about the mark, all rolled into one - manifaturra movement, automatic, DATE (at last!), sandwich dial, 1950 style case - just hope my bank manager/girlfriend doesn't see the bill!

Anyway - just for Driver8....

The 253

And the 270

And I can't get over how stupid Panerai were to not include a date on this one...

Good to see you posting again Ian :D

Can't blame you on being so excited about that lovely 270. As close to perfection as it gets.

That Ceramic Monopulsante is a very nice watch indeed. I am torn between it and the 270. Good thing I have a year to decide
