to find a ladies watch, swiss made, in the $300 to $400 range. It doesn't matter quartz or automatic. I was thinking of looking at Swatch, Tissot, Movado...what else is there? Any additional help would be appreciated.

I believe Hamilton makes ladies watches also. I'm not sure though, my wife won't let me get her a decent watch.

Burberry has some beautiful ladies Swiss Made watches. Under $400 for most of them. I just bought my wife one.

I believe Michele are owned by Fossil and I'm not sure if that range are Swiss made or not, but either way they're pretty popular among the ladies and have a good reputation. They also make the Burberry watches UofRSpider mentioned. Longines might do a few models in that price range, I think, and Tissot is definitely worth checking out. There's also Rotary, but I don't know what sort of reputation they have, really...

What sort of style does the lady in question have? If she is more of a classic person, Tissot or something similar is probably the way to go, if she's more modern, maybe something from Michele or Swatch. Good luck with the search!

I bought my wife this watch last summer

It's a great summer watch and you can get it for $295. Since she didn't want to wear the white in the winter, I got her the black dial version with black bezel as well. The white model is 36mm while the black on is 39mm. The larger one retails for the same price.

:wowzers

Thanks guys for the suggestions! I will check all of these out in more detail. This is pretty fun :geek: The lady in question is a coworker in our Vancouver office and she got wind that I am a watch nut so she asked me to help her out. Given that we are in two different cities my thought process is as follows:

1. Shorthand a few brands that meet the criteria
2. Send her the brand websites so she can peruse and see what they each offer
3. She can send me the styles that she likes
4. We can go from there in terms of price and finding the best deals

Tomorrow I will summarize all the suggestions here and will email her the websites. This way she can select what she likes and we can go from there.

i would avoid toy watches, they do look nice and my wife got 2 recently the 1st went back as the second hand ticked between all the markers which annoyed that hell out of me and the second the chronograph function broke after a few weeks. When we went back to the shop the woman said they get loads back as they are just cheap movements and for a watch costing £220 i expected more

ended up using tesco vouchers and getting her a tissot prc200 chronograph with the yellow hands which she loves and it is a great watch

Gucci usually has some in that price range if you find a deal. And ladies love Gucci...
