When i came accross this one i was dazed and confused :shock:

if you are intrested in a watch (or rather a complex wrist device) to indicate the position of the sun, the moon and the stars in the sky at any given hour as seen from Earth and to also indicate sunrise and sunset, dawn and dusk, moonphases, moonrise and moonset, eclipses of sun and moon, the month and the day of the week then the UN Astrolabium Galileo Galilei is the one thing for you. i have no idea about the retail price, but with such complications and only 100 pieces limited production one can guess what a hefty price tag it will bear :idea:

Awesome!

If I was being critical, I'd say that the hour and minute markers could do with being a little more prominent as the astronomical pointers are very bright in comparison...... but I'm pretty sure I could live with it if UN asked me nicely!! :wink:

These pieces are really insane... I guess you really want to make sure it stays winded - it must be a nightmare to set it after the power reserve has gone empty...

with such sofisticated build i expect that all u have to do is to adjuat the time and date and the magnificent movement will take care of the rest :idea:

could any body out there confirm or negate that ?

I don't know if this is actually true or a kind of horological urban myth, but I heard that some of the seriously complicated movements (eg these kind of astronomical movements, etc) have to returned to the manufacturer for resetting if they are allowed to stop. :shock:

At first thought, that sounds pretty daft, but when you actually think about it there is probably only so much you can do with push-pieces, the crown and additional depressed case buttons.....

I think I heard that about if you adjust the date too far or something if it has stopped - it is okay to reset things yourself if it has stopped, but going too far forward on a perpetual calendar watch means sending it back to be reset. Again, not sure if that is true.
