What's the point of hanging tags on new watches?

Post subject:  What's the point of hanging tags on new watches?
I talking about the plastic disc hanging by a string that say "Breitling" or "Rolex", etc... I was just looking through my packaging of my new Breitling and saw it in its own little bag thinking, why do they give you this?

It's used in the store for the price / inventory # sticker. Because it's part of the 'package' some people want it as part of their watch. For me it's in the same category as the sticker on the back.

Plus you can apparently glue them to a Zippo :roll:

Frankly they kind of crack me up - a 5c piece of plastic. I've never actually seen a Breitling hang tag on a display piece. But hey, they have come out with a new black one!! :lingsrock:

Ive seen them before, usually with the price tag on back. I know because I regularly find myself contorting into strange positions trying to see the price from outside the display case.
