Well, with the new releases from Panerai and AP, and my already existant desire to aquire a Breguet Marine Alram, I have decided to forego the Tourbillion I had ordered for these more satisfieng pieces. Thankfully, my AD was understanding and I have a very good relationship with them, so they agreed to shift the money I had put down for the Tourbillion towards the Panerais, although I was very excited about recieving the watch (It was in fact a Jaeger Grande Tourbillion LE in Rose Gold) and there is the immediate pleasure of picking up the watch in a couple of days, plus it is a friggin Tourbillion! A MIRACLE of micro engineering in every sense of the phrase. However the four Panerais I am substituting the watch for are more than worth the wait IMHO, and on the long run are a better value, I am immediately disapointed that I will not own a Tourbillion yet, but I just cant stand not owning those LE PAMs! Since its a now or never deal with the LEs, here is what I am waiting for:

Image

Radiomir Oro Rosa in a pink gold 47mm case. Fantastic dress watch!

Image

Luminor Composite 1950 , basically a 47mm Fiddy in composite and with a brown dial, tan numerals, gold hands.

Image

Luminor 1950 base. The 47mm combination case, the vintage look complete with Plexiglass.....

Image

The Bronzo, already talked about this one as well. Needs no introduction.

Thankfully the funds already paid for the Jaeger will cover the new PAM costs with a bit left over, since my AD accepted to shift the funds but cant do a refund, I suppouse I will have to get that Blancpain bracelet that I was looking at

All in all a better direction I believe. Interested to hear what you guys think.

I have started trimming my collection down, both my bases are now gone (the Zero and the 111) and I might let my Hublot and IWC Big Pilot go as well sometime mid year. I am looking to replace these four, with a little extra cash, and either get the marine Royal:

Or the new AP ROO Forged Carbon Chronograph:

The forged carbon will not hit the market for a while, and is expected to be a huge seller so i might not be able to get it at a decent price for some time, so the Breguet might be the ticket for 2011 as it is available and can be had for 35% off, so i wouldnt have to top off the cash from my four sales THAT much.

As an aside, with the sale of my two bases, I have inadvertinetely moved to all in house 20 watch collection, and with the new planned in coming pieces will have 16 different movements ticking away in my watch box. Guess I am more concerned with in house movements, at a subconcious level, than I had thought

I knew it!

The JLC is awesome, but I think this is the right decision. Youre gonna get some serious satisfaction out of these pieces. We all know how easy it is to get bored of a watch after only a short period, so this should keep you happy for 4x as long.

Good for you Altair - a man who knows what he wants!

When you change your mind again I'll take the bronzo off your hands (yes I really did say that).

Right choice made for sure Altair, as nice as the tourbillion is I'd take all those over it in a heart beat, everytime.

43mm and the price of a mid size BMW? You may as well have asked who is buried in Grant's Tomb. :nana:

Well done Altair.

This is such the right decision in my opinion.

The JLC Tourbillon is a highly desirable timepiece and would be something different in your collection. However, you are getting three of my new grails (plus the Radiomir Oro Rosa which is gorgeous).

I am considering putting my name down for the Bronzo Sub at my local ADs. They are quoting an 18 month waiting list on this and the 372 and 375, at least! Good luck with the long wait.

I've never been so excited by a list of new timepieces from one brand as I was with the SIHH Panerai releases this weekend.

For all of those who missed the it here is the amazing press pack.

I wish that I had any aspect of my life planned out as well as Altair has his 2011 watch purchases planned out!

I was just thinking the same thing. That JLC Tourb is a beauty, but these PAMs really do it for me.

Definitely the right choice IMO as well, Altair. A tourbillon like the JLC will be a nice "crowning glory" to your collection one day, but IMO it's not a patch on the usability of those Pannies.

Good move my friend!
