Here's a silly question...how do you protect your watch from pets? I personally don't have a pet. However, my gf has a dog that loves to jump all over me when I'm on the couch at her place. Don't get me wrong, it's all cute and all but I'm worried about him accidentally scratching my watch. How do you guys protect your watch from such situations? Should I just never wear a watch when I go to her place? Any advice? Share your stories. |

I have a number of very boisterous dogs - a sled team of Alaskan Malamutes and have never had any issues. It's not about the watch it's about the training of the pet! |

Get a girlfriend with cats. I don't see there is any real tisk of damaging your watch when handling a dog. If you're really not confident then just leave the watch at home. |

My Bell & Ross was chomped by a 5 month old Irish Terrier. I was patting him and had it on my wrist, no real damage done fortunately. Everything else in the house was in the firing line at the time too. He's grown out of the chewing phase now but I still think he could scratch a watch during horseplay if I'm not careful. |

I don't let my girlfriends pet my watches ![]() I've got a Jack Russell Terrier - it never even crossed my mind - and she's as crazy and active as they come. My PAM has a high polished case and that only comes out for date night with the wife and for special occasions - I definitely wouldn't wear it to knock around in - but my Breitling and Omega - I don't give it a second thought. |

I have the exact opposite thought process. I try to make sure that I dont hurt my dog with my watch. When we play and she bites me I dont want to have her accidentally bite the watch and break a tooth or accidentally hit her in the face. Im pretty sure theres nothing she could do to damage the watch. |

Long sleeves of course! Roffensian wrote: I have a number of very boisterous dogs - a sled team of Alaskan Malamutes and have never had any issues. It's not about the watch it's about the training of the pet! Just when you mention that, was it hard to train the Malamutes? I've heard they're quite independent dogs and difficult to train at times. They must be hard work! |

Start young, be consistent and establish pack hierarchy and it's no big deal. The problem with Mals is that they are smart and get bored easily and that's when they get 'independent'. Ours have several acres to run in at will even if they aren't hooked up as a team so have plenty of things to keep them occupied, but stick them in an apartment with one walk around the block each day and you'll have problems. |

for me if i am playing tug with the dog then i dont wear my watch around her. however if we are just hanging out or going for a walk than its no big deal. when you say protect your watch from your pet, are you worried about your pet jumping all over you and pawing at your clothing and watch? if so like Roff said this is really a training thing. if its a dog thats doing this you really need to go over the rules of what acceptable. consistency is key...good luck |
