This was a great SIHH, some amazing watches from Panerai, three absolute must haves for me personally! Jaeger released some fantastic watches as well, but none for me. Some nice base Reversos for those inclined, but my Reverso 986 is more than enough to keep me satisfied. The new DeepSea tributes are fantastic, but too small for my gorilla wrists. And the truly extraordinary Reverso Repetition is out of my league. It is the first watch with four dials, they slide over each other to reveal different functions. Mind boggling

AP introduced one of their nicest watches, the New Sharznegger ROO is a work of art, I always like the Rose Gold and ceramic combo but felt it to be a little too much, this design keeps the rose to the dial and pushpiece aspect and is very nice! I dont expect I will be able to afford it!

On the plus side, AP updated their base ROO line as well with the new in house movements, exhibition backs and the beefed up cases. All are very nice, but the forged carbon ROO with the black dial and a cermaic bezel is out of this world!! Hopefully street will be under 25K

IWC continues to disappoint. Whats happened to them? Portoboring

The three Panerais and the forgec carbon ROO are must haves for me, I hope we have a terrible Basel!!

Oh how our tastes differ

I put mine here - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=26096

However the Richard Mille was the clear stand out for me until I saw the PAM 382.

There are some interesting pieces at GTE as well, but I'll write more of a summary for those as they are more niche than the SIHH brands.

 yes Roff, I have to say that it never amazes me how different our tastes are, or how ugly the watches you like are

In all seriousness, I do find it interesting when a watch does appeal to us both, though in the case of the 382 that might not be good news, as that probably means there will be some fierce competition! Thats what makes things interesting I guess.

I would have to say, out of most people who post here, my tastes seem to run closer to Drivers and Jays more than most.

Were the new additions to the Portofino line their only announcements?

Last year it was the Yacht Club in the Portuguese line. Does this mean next year we might see something different in the Pilot or Diver lines? Just wondering how their new developments are introduced (if there is a pattern for IWC).

I still don't like PAMS  Even the 382, although it does look different and I like the bronze styling direction, it's still not for me.

Standouts for me include:

The AP Jules Audemars Dual Time (pictures from Perpetuelle) - just a simple, clean dial and a classy watch to boot. I really really like the New Sharznegger ROO also.

I like the IWC portofino chrono although I admit it's hardly different. Still a classic look that you can hardly go wrong with (plenty of pictures in earler posts).

The Roger Dubois La Monegasque Collection is also very nice (courtesy of Perpetuelle also).

This is too awesome. I was just reading about this manufacturing process the other day and thought it was pretty cool. For anybody that hasnt heard of forged carbon fiber before: regular carbon fiber comes in weaved sheets that are stacked in layers and painted with a resin to harden them. Its a very time consuming and expensive process. Forged CF uses small carbon pellets that are forged into a molded shape. Its quicker, potentially cheaper, and can produce some more complex pieces (like this watch case). Also, regular CF only retains is strength in one direction. Forged CF is equally strong in all directions.

Google Lamborghini's forged carbon fiber concept car for something seriously cool.

I love the idea of the bronze PAM, but im not a big fan of the sub case or the green dial. The 1950/Rad case is freaking amazing though. Too bad for the plexi crystal though. :idontgetit:
