've got a "Wearing jeans watch", Aerospace and a dress watch, Steelfish. I'm looking for a watch that works with a uniform and in rather rugged conditions. I've found a couple but I'm positive there are those out there that I don't know about. I want: 40-42mm without bezel, 45mm about max total Sapphire crystal day of week date good glowing or tritium black face rubber or other synthetic band 100m water resistant min Preferences: I lean towards automatic but if the right quartz comes along... I prefer white hands but orange second hand and/or orange tips on other hands are okay Day/date at the 3:00 position MUCH preferred I want day of week! I want the band to be able to give if it gets caught in something without ripping my hand off. I don't want leather. Ones I've found that I really like: The Fortis B-42. DAMASKO DA 36. Fortis 595.18.41M Hamilton King Automatic Hamilton Khaki multi-touch I want to avoid plastic, glass or mineral glass crystals as I cannot stand scratches and will replace the crystal with a sapphire one whenever it gets scratched anyway. I would rather just go ahead and get sapphire to begin with. Any that you know about that are along the same lines? |

I can't really help on specifics but I would suggest checking out the diver's watch range by Oris. They are all autos, some have tritium markers instead of Superluminova, and they are superb value for money. Well worth a look. |

I don't call it a beater, but I wear my Fortis Fleiger if I'm out being being a little more active. You can buy one in the $12-1500 USD range. ~Brian |

I'm going to go look for/at this one tomorrow. If I can get the crystal changed to sapphire, this is exactly what I'm looking to get ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() I almost bought one in all black, but I was afraid of scratching the bracelet up. I went with the Flieger Chrono and have been really happy with it. I just sent it into service to have the crystal changed and for routine service....The cost of the crystal swap was $60. I purchased my Fortis from Todd at www.worldlux.com . He's the owner, and has a ton of knowledge on Fortis pieces. The piece you are looking at is priced at $699 USD on the site. When I bought mine, he price matched another quote for me. Good luck with your decision! ~Brian |
