Well today I had the whole day off and my girl was working so I decided to have a little me time. I been to Tourneau a 100 times and I don't think they are that personable and tend the think I'm just a kid, so I waned to look at some high end jewelers. The first stop I made was Freedman Jewelers in Huntington. From the moment I walked in my eyes darted to the right of myself toward the Breitling display. An older woman approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her I was in the market for a new watch, and I had my eye on a few different Breitlings. She said oh well I noticed your wearing a Breitling "I was wearing my two-tone Invicta PD 7750 lol" I told her it wasn't but I wanted to look at the Super Avenger which has the same movement and want to look at the 6.75 which is a eta 2892 with a big date and a 30 second chronograph ![]() My Second Stop was Maddaloni Jewelers. Right away I was greeted and asked if I needed help. I been here before and new that they are one of the largest carriers of UN. I told the salesman that I was In the market for a new watch none of which they carried there. Another salesman named Bryan told me to sit tight that he wanted to talk to me because he was impressed that I knew so much and that I wanted an in-house movement. I'm not going to go into extreme detail about the conversation but over all I was blown away about the information he gave me about three different watch companies he loved, and thought I might be interested in. One was Ulysse Nardin another was Glashutte ( which is a small german company that makes all in-house movements and only a small amount of watches per-year. The last was Cuervo Y Sobrinos. Oh and by the way this kid Bryan Is only 20 and been into watches for only 4 months. The main watch he was showing me that I loved was the Ulysse Nardin 243-92/632 Quadrato Dual Time Mens Watch and in-house movement. The watch was about $7,000 an amazing time piece but for my first grail not for me. I humored him and told him that I was going to think about it ( which I would if I had the money and my first grail already ) Before I left, Bryan gave me three amazing booklets ( all hard cover ) on each brand. What an amazing time I had. OH and the best part right before I left he let me try on the Ulysse Nardin Freak Diamond Heart Limited Edition Watch!!! this watch is $160,000 ![]() ![]() An amazing day to say the lest and heres a pic of all the free stuff I got ![]() ![]() |

Interesting you bring up Ulysse Nardin. I know UN gets a hot or cold reaction from most folks. Recently I went to look at the Executive Dual Time Big Date and was very unimpressed. For a 43mm watch it looked and felt like 46. The ceramic bezel was large, too large for my taste. I looked at some Maxi Marines and the like, but wasn’t interested in a rubber strap based watch. Then I noticed the 42mm Dual Time +/- GMT. I really liked it and was drawn initially to the black dial, but noticed the white dial on bracelet and THAT one got my interest. Upon closer inspection it had blued applied 5 minute markers, a raised blued small seconds ring, a big date, and that cool 24 hour aperture at 9:00. The chapter ring was sort of scalloped and raised a full mm. The dial had light sunray striations radiating from the small seconds sub dial at 6:00. The hands were fully lumed. It sat flat and confortable on the wrist. The bracelet was Rolex comfy. And it may have been the most functional travel watch I’ve played with. Set the 24 hour window to home time and a push of the + or – pushers at 10 and 8 changes the main hour hand one hour up or down per push. I had never been to this store either. I told the salesman there was no reason to talk at less than 30%. He offered 32. Huh?? I told him I wanted the almost Breitling beefy black alligator and deploy thrown in at a substantial discount. He threw it in at just under cost. Huh??? So what’s a brotha to do? So here are some pics you may consider (it’s not fully in house and the movement is QUITE undecorated for a display back piece, but so far is tracking time.gov dead on) that will likely invoke some “eeews” and perhaps a few “aaaahs.” Either way, I really liked it. Still do. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
