I stopped into a local Rolex AD yesterday to look around and they also carried Tag (yuck) and Ebel. The 1911 BTR was a nice big and beefy watch but the one that caught my eye was the Ebel Classic. 45.4mm, exibition back, calf skin strap on deployment (although their buckle was kinda wierd). The dial appears to have a Flying B type movement. Very classy and nice on the wrist. Priced at $3850 msrp. http://www.ebel.com/site/default.asp Anyone have anything to say about Ebel?? Scott |

Ebel nearly killed themselfs: 20 years ago, Ebel was one of the three top brands. Then they changed ownership. They changed their management every two years, and also their brand profile. LVMH sold the brand for less then a quater to Movado, for what they bought it 3 years before. The watches have a feminine touch, even the BTR, here in Austria, they are hardly sellable. They where downgraded from the A-Dealers to a few C-Dealers. For the moment, I would stay clear of that brand. BG Thomas |

I had a Sportwave about 10 years ago and I loved the watch. Well built and always got nice comments when wearng it. I traded it in for a Rolex and got a great allowance price for it as well. Don't hear/see much of Ebel watches now though |

Nearly bought a 1911 auto as my dress watch about 10 yrs ago, in the end, the in-house movement of my zenith swung it!...glad I went with the zenith ![]() Quality will out! |

I kinda like Ebel but they just don't quite know who they are and their designs are a bit on the boring side, with the exception of the BTR and Brasilia. Great quality and finish and decent enough value, though poor on the resale. I would like to get a used Brasilia someday, but would not get one new. |
